Man, I hate getting rid of bikes.
I offered to trade my 1991 KDX250 and he's interested.
I don't ride it but I 'm having trouble letting it go.
This guy will ride it with his boy so I guess it's a good swap.

Well, I got it.
I really hated the thought of letting my KDX250 go so I went to the bank and withdrew some cash.
I sat around here all day looking at it.
30 minutes before I was supposed to leave to meet the guy, I loaded it up.
I figured it was not gonna get ridden much if at all since I got the 2001 CR250.
I'm gonna go by Niguyvers house tomorrow and see about sandblasting and painting the frame.
I spent $2 at the carwash when I got home.
It looks pretty good.

Yeah, it's a pretty solid start for a rebuild.
It needs a few things right off the bat.
Tires, fork boots, chain slider and rollers, the shifter is real loose on the shaft
This is my newest AHRMA racer.
It's got some funky bars and a funny pipe that are gonna get replaced.
As with my 1992 500, someone carved their initials in the cylinder.
Also, it DOES have an Ohlins shock.
He pulled it out of a shed and it started on the 3rd kick.
This is gonna be a fun build.

Spoke to Niguyver and he's gonna blast it and paint it for me.
I'm gonna get it stripped down asap and take it to get the paint matched up.
Friggin heat is 95 and humidity is off the chart.
It might be a slow go for a day or two.

Just wanted to say, I perused the steelie rebuild section and SO MANY of the threads just stop abruptly.
Like people drop off the planet or something.
I'm gonna finish this one with as many pertinent pics as possible.

I think I read about every post in that section and even back in 2008 people were trying to beat Bob to the punch on chains!
That's why I posted it.

I started taking it down and was hoping I could get a color match from this area of the bike but, it looks like it's faded too much.
Dogger says he has the proper color in powder so I may powdercoat it.

Let me know if you need the Dupont recipe for the color which I believe is Flash Red.

He's asking $1350.
The same as mine.
I only had $700 in my KDX250 that I traded.

If his posting runs out and he posts it again, I may reconsider it.
That's what I did with the one I got.

Redrocket PM sent

Makes me sick how cheap you can pick up a good bike in the states for.
The local bike shop here has a nice orignal/well worn'86 and they want au$4,990.
