What pipe and silencer?

So im putting an 86 motor in an 2006 crf250. From everything ive been looking at, everybody is using a 89-01 pipe correct? Im gonna order a pro circuit pipe here tomorrow. The bike I bought has an answer silencer on it right now. Is it worth trying to use it or just buying the correct one for a newer bike? Thanks guys.
