stripped oil drain plug

got motor tore down for rebuild,got used know noughting about it, anyway the drain plug is stripped wondering what you guys using as for as inserts or what.Not interested in rigging it

if it is stripped -- I taped one out to american size without drilling

timesert of keysert from fastenal. used keysert on mine. works good. roostius said it wouldnt

. one good tip is make sure you drill/ tap the hole exactly straight or your new bolt wont seal flat against the case and will leak. if you put some kind of bushing over the drill bit and tap and let it sit against the case surface that should keep your hole straight. might be able to just tap the hole bigger like the other guy said. i wasnt able to do that on my application so insert was only real option.

Last resort, couldn't it be welded and redrilled?

Most good autoparts store have a selection of over sized drian plugs for cars. I'm sure you could match one . These oversize plugs cut their own threads as you install them. They come in SAE and metric thread sizes.
