Cool - was it me or was it rocking back n forth? Wonder what they're doing for heat shielding...my pops worked for Rockwell back in the day - gave me a piece of the shuttle tile - cool stuff. You can heat it up with an oxy torch till it glows red but is cool to the touch on the other side.

The shuttle is coming in at 25,000 mph ( Oribital Flight) , and the friction is crazy..... heat sheilding is a must.
This this basically goes straight up, floats in space, and falls like a rock straight down.
The tail booms "feather"... much like a shuttlecock.
While its falling, it does wobble a bit.
Then , once its low and slow enough, the tail booms reposition for flight, and a soft landing.
Here's the first version , Space Ship One
Jack and I got to sit in it at Burt Rutans birthday party.

Will that ever go into orbit or just made to go up and back as a ride for CEOs?
A little too much for my wallet, I hear disneyland just finished their upgrades on the star tours ride, that I can afford, as long as I don't have to bring the family
