Installed a Pro-Cycle dual sport kit and went from 13/51 to 14/50 gearing so she's not on the pipe at 45mph and I can now ride to the local trails instead of loading it on the truck. The bike didn't mind the gearing change at all. It's got about 30hp more than what I really need for most trails anyway. Still lugs up hills with no trouble.

I've thought about that a couple times, but I kinda figured that Road riding may be too much for a 2-stroke. Most of our riding areas are 45 mins to an hour away.

Thanks!

Properly jetted and geared, 2 strokes are fine on the road. I've ridden my supermoto all over the place with the only ill effects being numb hands from the vibes at certain speeds.

With riding spots 45min to an hour away though, I personally wouldn't even ride a 4 stroke dual sport to the trails. It would be trailered. That's a bit far to go without a support vehicle should something to wrong with the bike (or more importantly, the rider) given the knarly single track we ride most of the time. I'm lucky enough to have a couple great riding areas within a 15 minute ride which is ideal for a plated dirt bike. Don't want to wear down the knobbies too quickly if I don't have to. :D

In fact, I just got back from a quick ride through the trails. Gotta get me a GoPro camera so I can post some vids.

I ride mine on the street regularly.
Went to Costco to get something yesterday.
I take it to the post office, supermarket...

You just have to be careful with knobs on the road & easy on the throttle in slight turns.

What size is your tank and how many miles can you go before refueling? And do you have a reserve?

I think it's about 3.5 gallons. Never checked how many miles I get to a tank but I've ridden all day with mixed on and off rode riding and always had plenty of fuel left at the end of the day.

I have the 3.5 gallon clarke and I can get around 75 miles all dirt desert pace. Most of the desert races around here the pits are 50 miles and you can just squeek that out of a stock tank.
