I dunno man, his looks blurry like it maybe 380 Res.
Sure mine has that spot and the cam is twisted but those can be fixed. Blurry can not. :argue:

Great video, where, what type/brand, and price on the helmet cam you used. I would love to have one.

Thanks

It is 720p. I haven't posted anything that showed the resolution. Most all of the time, the camera is wet, and so looks blurry. Honestly, it's not as good as the helmetcamera.com units combined with a minidv camera. But with those, you're talking $1k easy for the whole setup. Mine was $350 total. Freakin simple to use as it records on to SD already compressed so that you can just copy and upload to youtube directly where it gets COMPLETELY BUTCHERED. Not connect your camera and restream it back to your pc for hours on end. 1 battery runs both the camera and the helmet unit and lasts nearly 4 hours on a charge. It has an integrated control on the cable to power up and start and stop recording. It's biggest downfall is the integrated mic. It REALLY needs an external mic jack to move the mic somewhere that wind noise can be avoided. :? :(

I'll see about posting a vid @720p...

Unfortunately, I only recorded that at low res.

Here is some raw footage @720p with normal compression. The camera has a higher setting but my 4gig flash card is not fast enough to handle it. I have recorded some at max settings and it does look better, but I have deleted all of that.

The camera is still wet in this one too, but you can at least see what you get for $350.

Like I said, the helmetcamera.com unit with a miniDV is way better quality footage. My riding buddy Matt has that setup and he rarely uses it because it's a pain to set up and extract footage from. Then it takes up MASSIVE disk space, but man is it gorgeous.

This little unit works great for youtube.

You'll need to install the codec to view it. (~1MB)

I got mine from www.jonescam.com the 480 Lipsitck one.
Then already had the Sony camcorder.

and bidding on these;

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=020
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=013

Mojo is right though, the way I went was about $1,100. But $230.00 of that was for the 10 hour battery for the camcorder and memory stick.

Forgot about the wet conditions. Then there's dust, I have to remember to reach up once in a while to wipe it off. On one of the AZ rides I did I had to leave the lens cover off because of condensasion inside. Also because I haven't figured out how to change the format from a .MOV file to .mpeg it requires to upload the finished movie to the memory stick then back to the Mac. That doesn't take long but its a pain.

Editing the movie takes time to learn the software. Then there's adding transitions, titles, and the timing of the music if added. I had to this time cause I knew I didn't have audio. Hence buying a new mic above.

I've never ridden sand dunes and that video looks like too much fun. I know you have to run a flag but how do you keep from hitting someone head-on going across those blind dunes? Does everyone go pretty much in the same direction?

You look around for drunk rail drivers very carefully. As for going the same direction, NO, its complete choas!

Some times its following tracks left behind. But mostly ride the tops and look way ahead and key off the direction others are going. And not going on major weekends.
