Clarification?

Ok, Ive been arguing with this assclown about silencers vs. suppressors.

I know what a flash suppressor is, I am not referring to that.
I am referring to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suppressor

He argues that a silencer is somehow different than a suppressor, and they are illegal.

I argue that "silencer" is slang for a suppressor, and that they CAN legally be owned in like 38/50 states.

You have to get it from a gun shop, fill out paperwork, wait 90 days, if you get approved, you pay for the suppressor and a tax stampm and BAM you legally own a suppressor. (at least in Ohio)

I have a friend of a friend that has (ive shot it) a suppressed automatic UZI that he has the papers for, and is legal. It cost him quite the small fortune too, from what I understand.

An actual immediate friend just picked up his internally suppressed Ruger mark .22 from the local gunsmith.

So my question to you guys is this: what do you know on this subject?

You are confusing flash suppressor with sounds suppressor...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flash_suppressor

Flash suppressors don't require a stamp, although they might be illegal in certain states like CA.

I clarified in my post (and my argument with said clown) that I was not referring to a flash suppressor but a suppressor, commonly called a "silencer".

A "silencer" or suppressor suppresses the sound and flash, a two-fer.

Obviously the argument is somewhat over wording, but it was more so over the fact that they are not illegal everywhere as the guy was claiming.

it all got started when my friend was wondering about buying a gun, and the idiot insisted that you need 700 bucks to pick up a shotgun.... :britincali: :bonk:
