Does anyone have experience with anything like this?

Cheap

Shines light where your eyes are pointing.

Bright

Light stays on, even if engine quits

Acceptable "On" time ( 2 hours)

Any feedback?

I have a Niterider Digital Nightowl light for my mountainbike. It uses a 15 watt halogen light and has some serious lighting power. Stays lit for about 3.5 hrs. I was going to mount it to my 500, but the ni-cad battery wouldnt take a charge after letting it sit for a few years.

Now Niterider has even better lights. One of the new HID lights attached to a helmet would be great for riding. Ive been thinking of getting one.

A buddy of mine has these. They really put out the light and are a well designed system. I'll be getting a set for myself soon.

Those are designed to attach to slotted downhill bicycle halmets

We knew it gave people the munchies and made them giggle. Now researchers claim to have found a new property in cannabis - it helps us see in the dark.
Scientists made their discovery after becoming intrigued by Moroccan fishermen who not only failed to lose their sense of direction after smoking generous amounts of local kif, a mixture of cannabis and tobacco, but seemed to navigate better on dark nights.

"They attribute their ability to see to the consumption of kif that they spend entire hours smoking before getting into their barques," one of the research team, drawn from the US, Spain and Morocco, reported.

Jamaican fishermen have reportedly shown a similar reaction, suggesting that there may be something medically useful in cannabis apart from the pain-deadening properties already spotted by doctors treating cancer patients.

Equipped with a machine for measuring night vision, the researchers headed for the Rif valley, the centre of Morocco's flourishing cannabis trade. "High-grade sifted cannabis was mixed with tobacco in a 2:1 ratio and smoked as kif by subjects employing a traditional sebsi pipe," the team write in the latest Journal of Ethnopharmacology.

Three "kif-experienced" Moroccan volunteers were then invited to make "numerous inhalations".

The volunteers demonstrated "consistent improvements" in tests, leading the researchers to suggest that further studies should be conducted.

But their results backed up claims by the Observer columnist Sue Arnold, who suffers from retinitis pigmentosa and is officially registered blind. She noticed several years ago that drawing on strong Jamaican skunk suddenly and temporarily enabled her to see things clearly.

But Ms Arnold has since warned of side-effects that could impede night-time navigation.

"Only trouble was," she said, "I couldn't stand up."

I purchased my " Glorified Flashlight" as Brit calls it....

Reasoning?

1. Will provide adequate light for the riding I do.

2. If the bike craps out... you can:
a: Work on it in the dark
b: Walk back in the dark, and see where your going
c: Signal someone
d: Look for Brit after he goes off the trail ( too cheap to by light of his own...)

3.Run time per charge for the 50watt is two hours, 3 if you add another power pack

4. Everything fits in the Camelbak... no leads or cables to tether you to the bike.

5. Illuminates where I'm looking, not where my bars are pointing.... This is a big difference for me!!!!

I'l have it for Pismo...

Darryl, the guy who own Cyclops is a rider too... He'll be up at the BUTTSTOMPER event Mojo posted.... Says he goofed up when he sold his CR500 to go 4 stroke.... got all excited to hear about our site.... is looking for another CR500!!

I'll post my review after Pismo... So far Darryl seems very cool, wants to make sure I'm completly satisified... a good sign!

This light is NO JOKE!

I drove my wifes CT90 around the hood' tonight with this light on... There is an area with a burnt out street light.... its pitch black....

Rode like it was noon @ Glaimis...

Friggin light is bright, and illuminates a huge area.

This is gonna work out great!

We'll see if it works as well in Pismo.

If you dont have a light set-up mounted on you bike, or even if you do..... This is the light to get!!!

I took it to Pismo, and it performed beyond my expectations.

The conditions were pretty rough in camp. It was very overcast...no moonlight whatsoever, add the smoke from the campfires + fireworks and the mist from the ocean spray.. I thought all I would see would be the reflection of the beam.... wrong. The light cut through the muck pretty well.

Out in the dunes, the light worked very well. The beam is well focused the right distance in front of you, with a nice "secondary" glow lighting up the surrounding area. With the light at the highest possible point ( on top of your helmet) you dont get the "shadowing" like you do with lower positioned lights. Also the light didnt "bounce" like other bike mounted lights I have rode with. It seemed to roll with my head, staying in synch with my vision, and was far more natural.

I didnt test the run time, but it wouldnt of mattered. Cyclops states that max run time wouldnt be achevied until the battery cycles a few times.

The batteries fit nicely in the Camel Bak, the weight is about 1.5 lbs or so and the on / off switch is placed well up by the light and can be worked effortlessly... and "fumble free".

At one point I got off my bike, and pretended to be fiddling with the motor, tires, and controls to see if the beam would be too bright to be useful at such close distances.. nope.

All in all, with price, function, ease of use, and value all added up, I give this 4.5 out of 5 Wheelies. Al Gava said that Lithium batteries would cut the weight in half. This might me helpful for the ladies or kids when riding at night.

I know Pismo can be trecherious, I've had some bad experiences there
with the steep peeks and soft approaches. Let me know if there is
