I got screwed

Post by FRO53 »

Here is the story. I just bought a super clean 97 500. talked the guy down to 1700.00 from 2000.00. He put on a new jug new rod and new weisco top end. said the bike was ready to go . So I got it home and noticed gas on top of the ignition cover and kick it over to find the base gaskit was blown.Easy fix. So i get it apart and found that the lower rod bearing has all kinds of play side to side and up and down. and the piston pin bearing is shit too . everthing looks new. So if someone has an idea of what happend, that would be cool. and if rossty could pm me a quote to fix this. or a price on crank kit.the piston and jug are fine. thanks Jeff Snipes.
ps maybe quote me on your porting too. and it was a pro x rod if that makes a diff.

If the crank is crap, you should have felt it the moment you fired it up.

No noise or bad vibes?

So the guy put a fresh top end on a shit bottom end by the sounds of it. Sounds like nothing more than a cover up to make a sale. Still doesn't explain the small end bearing, but at this point it doesn't really matter. Piston kits don't come with a top bearing typically, so if the bottom was walking around it'll take out the top as well. He probably just threw the old bearing on the new pin. If the piston looks new, it's got almost no hours on it and i'd put my money on him knowing the bottom end was wiped.
If if doesn't kill you, it hurts like hell.
