these are good bob my sister and brother in law have one and take it on bush treks when on holidays tracks them and we can see where they are at all times it leaves a bread crumb route makes a big difference here when you might be 1000km from help when we head to the desert we dont have rangers stations over here your on your own

what I don't like about both, the Spot, and Spot 2, is you can send out a message but can,t receive one.
I have read that Spots have sent FALSE 911 messages, and this guy got no helicopter. read on, in this long thread.

I read most of that thread and I think it is the organizer's fault, not Spot's. I think the results would be different if there was not an event going on but just my opinion. I have talked to other people who have them and they say that they work great. I would rather have it and never use it than not have it and really need it.
