Does anyone know how to lighten a cr500 flywheel? I have a 250 ignition and like the flywheel weight. I would like to try a 500 curve with a light flywheel. Thanks, Bob

lightening something requires material removal and thats a irreversible process for the most part. seen guys lighten flywheels and if done incorrectly if can cause premature part failure. even done correctly there can be problems. i would be more inclined to look at the crankshaft. literly take as much off of there as you want and no fear of mechanical issues. doubt you would be able to take enough off the flywheel to see considerable difference, and like i said before you run the risk of devoloping cracks of having it possibly fly apart. not saying it couldnt be done with sucess but i would look things over real good with a engineering mindset before proceeding forward. i thought roostious said some the earlier flywheels were lighter ?

forgot about the older 250 stuff. seems like it does plug right into the 500 cdi. mick is only guy to ever try it far as i know. if it were me i would avoid machining down a flywheel. seen a few of them crack.

OK no machining. I have an analog 250 on the bike now. Tried a 500 cdi but could not get it to start. Any info would be great. Bob
