Bob's Hondapotumus.....

Post by AlisoBob »

I started getting my bike set up for the way I want it.... starting with the levers.

I really like the Sunline V1's Pecker turned me onto. They will be good insurance against a broken lever 50 miles from the truck ruining my day....

Only problem is these levers went not designed to fit a XR650R.....

Image
Heres the brake side. I had to reprofile the master cylinder casting to match the radius in the lever... simple enough.

Image
Also had to shave a little off the stop to make it fit correctly. A sharp file did both in 5 minutes.

Image
Here it is all reassembled. The small silver post is adjustable to move the lever in or out. Great levers!!!!

The clutch side was a little more difficult due to the lever girth, the decompressor lever sitting on top, and the snuggness of the handguard.

Image
Heres the top of the lever shaved down a bit on a belt sander

Image
Hers everything assembled. Notice the lower portion of the hand bucket is filed for clearence too. Its snug, but it all fits.

Image
I also added some bar plugs that I had laying around. All in all, a big improvement!!

I also have a different top bar clamp to add....

Image
Heres the stock clamp. Bars are WAY behind the fork centerline. Not good for tall, fat, Hondapotumus riders.....

Image
Heres the new clamp. Moves the bars forwards 2", and up 3". Should do the trick.

Next I'm servicing the forks, adding springs, and taking it out for a test ride before the big Mojave Trail trek.

Those are nice, so now you need longer cables too. and you mite want some real bark busters those buckets will tear right off when you get wraped around a boulder or tree

You look like a big guy, you can man handle that thing on single track.
Course, I heard that's what it takes.
Put a big tank on it with 3-4 gals of fuel, rads full of hydro.
Do they still run oil in the frame since they watercooled it?
Nuthin to it!
