Suggestions on my 1990
Suggestions on my 1990
Ok, Im asking for suggestions, basically what is the most cost effective repairs. I picked up a 90 the other weekend and have finally gotten around to sorting out whats what. This list will probably grow, so chime in with any ideas.
1. Motor seems like its in good shape, fires on the 1st or 2nd kick cold. No boggs, carb feels close for now.
2. The frame has minimal rust, and not alot of wear in the usual boot area.
3. Wheels are fairly straight, brand new tires. Hubs, rims and spokes show a little age, nothing bad.
4. The front brake, while stopping descent feels little hard at the lever...bleed it?
5. Bars are bent...suggestions?
6. The rear shock is seeping oil..suggestions?
7. The right had rad shroud is sitting on the pipe, a Pro C. It hits the pipe on the corner. Is this a jacked up shroud? Im not in love with the pipe, its been welded nearest the shifter lever. I was thinking of a Gnarly. Would a new pipe cure that? Or shroud, the ones on aren't in the best shape, and I could just knife the corner?
8. The 3 small screw holes on the fork lower casting, that holds the slider guards, 2 on one side are stripped, 1 on the other side is stripped. 1 had teflon tape wrapped aroung the threads, Im guessing to help hold it in. Ideas?
She does run like a raped ape though

just to be clear my piston ISNT cracked, i bet its well on its way tho, but it still has issues, i think more dirt got in than i thought
looks like what would happen if the cyl was taken off at a bit of an angle, or put on...
i know hot rods dont put that copper colored coating on their rods, maybe thats whats in there
But whats up with the horizontal scratches on the top left side? They arent raised or recessed, they're just kinda there.

the 450 will have less power and will be harder to start, and will be heavier, but to make up for it it will require more maintenance.
