Here is a couple pics of the tire, and a pic of my whip mount, I highly recommend this type for anyone that goes to the dunes more than once in a lifetime.

I bought it in Glamis at a vender, and they fit regular cr500s too. The red quick release is a seperate item that costs 15 bucks.

You park where ever you want.... then the rangers drive around from midnight till dawn... and if you dont have a pass in your window, its something like a $300 ticket.

You need to pre order the pass, as they only let so many campers in... its up to you to find a spot.

We went out to Superstition for the weekend to test it out a few weeks ago and I found that I am only good for short rides right now. After 15 min. of up shifts my ankle runs out of strength.

Pismo sounds like more of a fun camping trip than a hardcore riding session so it will all be good

Pismo

Post by Freemer »

Is there ANY toy hauler area to park and have easy access to the riding area?? I visited Pismo a long time ago and we had to wait until the fishermen were done casting their lines (arrived 6am) then we had to cross the beach and a small ass river to get to the riding area.

We got stuck also cause my buddy at the time only had a nissan truck and some chick in a Jeep came along and yanked us out - we spent more time driving there (4hrs each way) than riding so it was not worth the effort.

Has the BLM made any improvements to the site ?

My buddy goes each year but he stages his stuff at his moms place away from Pismo not everyone has that luxury. He is the owner of CT racing.

The military has miles and miles of shoreline they dessimate with tanks and all kinds of hevy equipment and they left a small place for riders to enjoy.

just wondering

No staging area

Post by Freemer »

Too much for me -- need a monster truck to get in there - I own a Z71 Chev. Bros got the ultimate Diesel 2500 4X4 but stock treads ......gotta have an external place to park plus 4 hrs drive each way for SOCAL..would not mind the experience but the cost is seemingly too much for my budget at this time.

I hope all that attend have a great blast there

Drop the PSI in your tires before you get stuck to around 5-10 PSI this should help and if all else fails. When in doubt gas out. :D Also no fisherman can get in the way of a 500 rider when it's time to ride.Come on.. :whoop:
