Actually thats pretty much my plan. Special order the piston with the next size up rings...
The only issue would be the radial tension, I havnt discussed it with them yet, maybe they offer the "correct" bore ring just in a ruff un-fit version?? That would illiminate the tension issue...
I have also considered the idea of larger SECOND ring gap then the traditional oposite. It supposed to actually increase ring seal by dumping land pressure that often reults in top ring seal failure...

turbo guys do that to reduce "ring flutter". one of the problems with running total seal rings, if you don't keep a good crank case vacuum, you will mess up some ring lands...I did
hard to keep a crank case vacuum in a turbo app. Krankvents work though.

I don't really see the tension being a problem if you are already at 1.5mm over and use a 2.00mm ring, that 5.mm bore difference will create sich a tiny extra amount of tention, but the proper ring gap will definitly be beneficial.

True dat, dawg...

if memory serves me right, .012 is ideal for the bore size if you are close, you are good. Too little and the rings can butt ends and kaboom, and too much and you get blowby. that being said, too much is definitly the preference.

oh yeah in down where the crank is how much oil should be there? with the cylinder off im kinda looking it over and spinning the crank dosent seem to be much of anything in there. can i rinse that out somehow?
Not much you can do once its "off center". But is it truly of center bored or is the sleeve off center but the bore is dead on?? (core shift)
With the top end off, fill the bottom end up with premix, grab the rod and piston and start turning the motor over. Take care not to bang the piston on the case. Then lean the bike over and poor the mix out. I do this a few times till the mix comes out clean...

i guess it is core shift because the distance seems to be the same from stud to inside the cylinder but i look like the sleeve wasnt put in center. more alumunium on one side than the other but more sleeve left. follow?

Yup, sounds like my cylinder exactly. Dont stress, it will be fine...

Personally if it were me, and if the wall clearance is truly .004 I would get a set of rings measure the gap. Possibly oversize if needed and put it back together, run it for a year then do the whole thing after that.

My guy wont run a Seizco tighter then 4 unless you convince him...thats where mines been over 2 seasons, happily...

I get mine to go .0035
Ring gap? Put a ring in the cylinder, square it up with the piston and measure the gap with feeler gauge.
After my first top end set at 3 squeked at 35 seconds into warm up, I havnt looked back. After I called Seizco to ask WTF, they asked what was done to my motor, then said, well duh, we say "appx. .003, modified motors may vary". LOL You should be around .004 or MORE!!
Assholes...
