so Nick (the gen4 owner) picked up these gen3 125 rads and "modified" them to work. Acutally on the bike very nice, 2 cores wider than the 250f rads, and not ruined like what was on the bike.

OK, so this gen 3 is all but bolted together, today i threw the junk cases back in the frame and stuck the rear suspension on and the spring hits that case by 1/4" or more!
Its an 02 250 shock on an 03 250 chassis, stock linkage and all

gen 4 ready - less chain
somehow on ebay Nick found a tank for this bike thats stock volume but shaped to clear a shorty plug with NO modifications

reconsider the coil location
install lower pipe springs

Did you get the carb boot issue sorted out yet?

its on there with the '86 boot, i dont like it, but have the later on order. Otherwise i'm antifreeze and installing 2 exhaust springs away from the test ride

First ride is out of the way! Started first kick
no leaks, no rattles but 1 exhaust spring that apparently contacts the frame, heard it when i shut the bike off.
I'm way off on the pilot with a 45 , it prefers no to 1/4 turn of airscrew, and no idle screw at all. It idles fine, but its unreal lazy. left my jets at the shop tho.
I may need more compression in this engine its at 89.25 and has scallops but i'll see what carburetor setup makes it feel like.
I have to keep reminging myself that this is my "general ride" bike, and its not supposed to be stupid like the '86 engine

So i had some nice 125 shrouds on the bike when i stopped at the gas station friday night. The kid that filled my truck tells me he's got a 250f that'll kick its ass, I said "bring it down to my house tommorrow and we'll find out", then his jackass buddy tells him that its no 125, and that he knows all the Millar boys only have 500s now, the kid backed out

So an excellent ride on saturday afternoon got me grounded to yardwork the rest of the long weekend.
I'd ridden up and down the driveway, and thru my little orchards a few times making sure nothing fell off and hoseclamps were all tight, but not until saturday did i get a ride on it.
We went to Robert Bergners place in Austin Manitoba, The site of the old Austin Hillclimb. I let my bro try it and he figured it was great, so the first wfo run with it i took was at the hill, and man that thing is a Caddilac.

I need to post a review on the paint i used for the cases.
VHT SP-735c Cast Aluminum (is shiny + brighter than glass blasted)
I've run bare cases before and they stain pretty quick, the regualr high temp engine paint shit washes off with gas, but this "Caliper Enamel" is the best stuff ever, good til 900 degrees and chemical resistant i did some jet changes and wiped the pool of gas of the top of the case after it sat there for 10 minutes and the paint held tight. It looks really good too.

Nick had some special looking springs on his pipe saturday, long shanked part then tight coil, i asked him what they were from, looked good, and didnt contact the pipe or frame. He said they were springs left over from a brake job on his cutlass worked perfect for that bike

NICE, that looks great.
Is there a reason that thing has no back brake.

ya, slows you down
i have a brake for it, but didnt get it fit in time, usually you can engine brake to come down, but there are hills where you need it so you can bring the front end down
