4 stroke death toll...
Well I gotta say that I know a mechanic who does my fork seals and works at a shop and he personally tells me that ALL the four strokes are having some sort of troubles. For example he's recently seeing the cranks in the YZ's go out for no apparent reason (07,08's). My roommate's 06 cr250f took a poop recently and it had maybe 50hrs on it, thousand bucks later it runs. I'm going to buy one one day but damn sure I'm keeping a 2 stroke or two in the stable.

Thats been my experience. The Hondas have been questionable, but after doing unbiased research it seems that a large portion of the issues are lack of maintenance and or improper installation of the air filter (quite common) or installing the oil filter backwards (less common, but easy to do).AlisoBob wrote:The Yamaha's seem pretty reliable.
The guy's/gal's I know with Hondas and no issues are peeps like me who change oil every couple rides and clean/properly install air filters. Their experiences have convinced me to give Honda a try. The 250 is getting stripped and sammich baggied like the 500 (starting tonight). 100% go through, check and replace anything questionable and put back together, MY WAY. If the thing goes BOOM after that, I guess Ill have a (Gen 3?) roller and Dani gets a YZ250F...
