hey, my ford has been really good to me, the only problem was an oil leak that mysteriously started after I went mobbing through the whoops on my way to comp hill
I hit my head on the roof a couple times there too
Warranty covered it but not without a fight. The oil pan and timing cover where leaking. I love the modular motors, they are sturdy and reliable as long as you didn't get one with the 4 threads holding the plugs in
and my 4r75w trans has been real good to me, can't say the same for the wife's E4OD trans (same as the 4r100 just lighter duty) the shifts suck and the 1st-2nd shifts gat all jumpy when its hot

they've come a long way with the W trannies, although my '04 ranger had the 5r55w and drove great, but they filled it with the wrong fluid from the factory and at about 20,000 I was hitting my head on the window everytime it would shift. apparently I was so hard on it they replaced the tranny, the recall only called for a fluid change
I told the guys at the dealer that if they wanted to field test any more transmissions just let me know!
that trans was all better after that. I've heard some good things about the 5r110w too, but its still no alison.
One thing about the alison, a friend of mine just had his granade on him at 62,000 right when the warranty was up...
I think my next truck with be a dodge cummins w/ 6speed... indestructable, noisy and hard to drive...sounds perfect!

The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...

IIRC e4od is not the name of the tranny, it just means electronic 4 speed overdrive

the 4r100 is an e4od, the one in my wifes car is a 4r100, but its the lighter duty one behind a 4.6l
the funny thing is that trans is supposed to be rated stronger than the 4r75w in my f-150, but the 4r75W is a real work horse, and the trans in the wifes car is a POS.
