why you skirting around? spill the beans or fuck off with your Nitrous oxide dyno maps, man I had enough of the secret bullshit100hp honda wrote:should be happy with roostious work. seems like his dyno was pretty good. not sure whole story on that engine. think it was a dude in cali did the porting and sent it to austrailia probly for a qaud. power curve is real steep. probly wouldnt be worth a shit except dunes
I doubt you ever ridden Ice, so I will tell you right now I can use as much power as the bike will make. The traction is better than motard on pavement if the right tires and stud pattern is used.
The extra power is really needed in the corners to keep it sliding.
I have seen guys use flat track frames with 140 RWHP gsxr1000 motors, and quite successfully but then they were banned.
still, when running 525 KTM's stroked, bored to 570 ported, the CR500 needs a boost.
Nitromethane and methanol are not allowed in the sanctioned events.
Reason 34,651 for not over rotating your motor in the frame, the jug will still come off.......
Checking rod side clearence. 5 years ago is was 0.024". Now its 0.027". Thanks '927'!!
Detailing the piston. Everywhere the piston touches the bore, I hand sand a nice little radius into to piston. I think it helps... WTF knows...
One day, a thousand years ago, I couldnt find any WD-40 to rinse out a bore, but I had to PAM sitting around, been using it ever since. This jug was washed out with solvent by Roosty, and with brake cleaner by me.... look what the PAM still pulled out of the bores pores. Squirt this shit all over, wait for it to foam up, wipe and repaeat until the papertowel is clean. OK, you can stop laughing now....... but it works .
Heres the proof, bore looks like chrome.... soft as a babies ass.....

I forget to add this photo, the area where the pin boss blends into the skirt always looks funky on a Vertex. I use a sanding roll to clean it up, and blend it all together.... Prolly' another waste of time, but I've also never seen one I've blended crack here either.
I need to go find my head studs, after I get it all together, I'll post some photos of the 5 year old shit... looks pretty good.
The builder was Nate McCoy that same motor dyno'd on Nates dyno at 83hp running race gas.dubious01 wrote:why you skirting around? spill the beans or fuck off with your Nitrous oxide dyno maps, man I had enough of the secret bullshit100hp honda wrote:should be happy with roostious work. seems like his dyno was pretty good. not sure whole story on that engine. think it was a dude in cali did the porting and sent it to austrailia probly for a qaud. power curve is real steep. probly wouldnt be worth a shit except dunes

That chart was from the guy that owns it and he had it dyno'd in Australia after he put it on Alcohol.
Not sure what kind of racing he does with it all the time but I am pretty sure he had it at a drag strip and ran 10's in the 1/4 mile.

Heres the Carb boot Roosty supplied me with. Its matches the 41mm PWK perfectly. Why bore the carb out, only to have a big step in the intake tract directly downstream from the carb. Adam corrects this issue.
Heres a lousy shot where I'm trying to show you how perfectly the head matches the bore. Its EXACT. I told Roosty he should consider doing machine work for a living.....
I rode the bike today, will give up a ride report after Baseball tonight.
In a nutshell, I love it.
Thanks Adam
Well, Roosrty's 1/2 TWIRP porting pulled a 14 / 49 pretty friggin' hard at the Elsinore GP today.....
Was going faster than I wanted to go. Sargents kid Garrett got a good view as I went by him.
Could have pulled a 15 / 48 I think. At 14/49 I was at full revs 1/2 way down the long straight
Was a little soft down low, but I think the jetting was off... bike wouldnt take ANY throttle with the choke off until I got alot of heat into the motor.
If I can get the "stock feel" back into the bottom end.... I'll be a very happy camper.
Stay tuned.......

sounds lean
would it be worth $1200 if you get the low back????If I can get the "stock feel" back into the bottom end.... I'll be a very happy camper.
the 450 will have less power and will be harder to start, and will be heavier, but to make up for it it will require more maintenance.
