Yea.... re-index the shaft, or go Ghetto, and put some shrink wrap where it hits....
decided to go ghetto until the next time I pull the engine out. 3 layer of shrink wrap.

does anyone think this ignition mounting location is a problem with heat? I am hesitant to splice the ignition wires to move the ignition up on the steering head.

Thanks yota that is exactly what I wanted to see.
Now that is 02/03 shape front mud guard is it not.
Then in 04 they went with a different shape to 07, correct. :?:
If not can someone steer me in the right direction.
BTW the bike is looking great, won't be long and you will be riding it.

Thanks again yota, you are a good man.
I like that style of guard better than the later ones, just not sure when they changed to the later shape.
It took me a while to realise that there was 2 styles of guard, kept thinking it looked great, then I thought it looked like shit.
I would use the 01 shape front guard before I would ever think of putting the latest shape on there.

Bike looks great.
No need to pull the engine to index. Drain fluids, remove brake lever, remove right side cover for access.

No need to pull the engine to index. Drain coolant, lay the bike on a mat clutch case up, remove brake lever, remove right side cover for access

Yota, love those graphics. Sweet build. The steelie had the cdi box mounted right above the exhaust port and between/behind the radiators. I can't imagine your location being much hotter than that. I don't see a problem with it.

UPS tracking says box-O-parts to be delivered tomorrow and I was told 10 minutes ago that exhaust is shipping tonight from PC. Got my ebay front caliper and linkage for my 'X" model suspension today. I have used Adrenaline Cycles on ebay for a number of things (new take-off "250X " suspension included) and their parts are top notch condition and ship same day.

Yeah, mine is an '04. At the time the pic was taken, it wasn't done yet so, yes, it was very clean. Still clean now but not as much as then.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

I installed the MX Bones airbox seal kit last night, nice kit, big mess as I subscribe to the more is better theory when it comes to applying the sealant.
I haven't installed the airbox yet but I did a test fit before doing the Bones kit and the alignment is right there. My motor came to me wth a rad valve, wonder if this is helping with the alignment? Only issue is the Showa shock I put on has a bigger diameter spring than the stock kayaba, is very close to the carb. will find out if it rubs tonight.

not liking the look of the stock red and black seat cover with my color scheme (yes I know thats petty and superficial). thinking solid black is the way to go. I've used N-Style before, they are ok. think I've used factory effects. what brands do you guys like for covers?

I have a Ceet brand cover on my bike. The thing is pretty tough and has been on there forever seems like. They are a little tough to get on there but most are I believe. It has the gripper on top that I love and has lasted through several spills. You can tell by feeling it that it is a lot thicker and tougher than the factory cover.

Just get you a SDG seat... Mine has been down countless times and not a mark on it! A decent cover will run you $60, why not fork out the extra $30 and get a whole new seat!!

I believe I used the n-style on the gen-1 and it sucked! ripped while I was installing it, never fit quite right. I use the one industies one that came w/ my bailey kit on the gen-3 and it fit tighter than an OJ glove... it was like german pussy "gutentite"
