you can keep your coil, '97-99 setups work just fine, but '97 has a electronic powerjet, so there are a couple extra wires. not sure abotu the gen-1 backplate though. took like 10 minutes to modify my '03 back plate with a drill press and a 1" hole saw.

Just picked up the 99 set up.... Hope it makes a nice difference! Whats the 500 set ups going for a little re-coup of funds?

TRUE THAT!! Sold the flywheel weight and that covered 60% of the 250 set up's price!

I run a complete '98 250 setup on mine, used for MX. I'll never put the 500 stuff back on. It has the powerjet hook up, but I havn't tried the powerjet carb yet. Been on my to try list but its not like it needs more power. Revs and turns like a 60hp cr250....good times!

Woohoo! I just got a full 98 system off ebay. So what would it take to set up a power jet carb? Is it worth it? Can they be bored to say.. 40-41mm?

Question for you guys who have don the conversion, what kind of wattage are you getting out of the lighting coil ?

I've just fitted this set up. Had to machine the back of the stator plate to make it fit. So that dispels the myth that is a easy fit/straight swap!
As for the weight of the flywheel, i can tell you its noticably lighter. If i can borrow a flywheel puller this weekend, i'll take it off & weigh it for you.

1991 CR500 ENGINE I TOOK MY 2001 CR250 FLYWHEEL/CDI/STAT IT WAS ALL A DIRECT BOLT ON TOOK 10 MINUTES I WAS SHOCKED 0 MODS..BUT ONLY A 2001 CR250 FITS THE 1991 WITH 0 MODS..OLD POST BUT WANTED TO CORRECT IT
