Facher told me he had it all stripped down, when you had it over at his shop.

My 01 had the exact same thing happen, albeit with less wear. I rarely get into 5th on the track but that was the one to go for me as well. I would def replace that fork while i was in there.

Good luck and watch that center case gasket around the crank area when reassembling. Use a little silicon or RTV to hold it in place. Mine moved just enough to leak and caused me to tear it apart (again   )

3rd? It was to my understanding I'd only need these two gears + a shift fork

Everything else looks fine.

those gears, I believe are 3rd and 5th on the main shaft. the gears they mesh with on the countershaft are the other 5th and 3rd
the 3rd gear on the mainshaft locks the 5th and 4th gears to the shaft when push one way or the other and while in the middle it is locking itself to the shaft while the oposite 3rd gear on the counter shaft is locked to the shaft.

Sane exact thing happened to me when a buddy rode my bike in the dunes and didnt keep an eye on the clutch free play. You bend the shift fork, once this happens it doesnt fully engage the gears which causes them to slip rounding the gear dogs. I believe 5th is the weak link in the 5 Hundy, if I remember right, but not sure why...

Replace the fork and the shaft it runs on anf the 2 gears (pinion and spur)...

I wouldn't recommend using silicone AND a gasket, thats exactly what it isnt designed for, doing so will increase chances of slippage. Silicone is designed as a replacement for a gasket. If you feel the OEM case gasket is a problem (usually only aftermarket) use a semi-bonding gasket cement like Yamabond 4 or Honda Bond. Its much stronger than Silicone and far more chemical resistant...

yamabond is the shiznits unless you are trying to remove it  but it is fuel resistant, silicone isn't, so silicone is a bad idea for case, base and reed housing/intake gaskets.
