The story goes, my mate is a known associate of the pawn guy, he only had $4000 on the yz with reciepts to say the motor was fully rebuilt,my mate called the the guy who rebuilt the motor to ask some questions, the mechanic said that he only did cosmetic work on the bike to make it look sellable....he also said that it would require a full rebuit and it shouldnt be riden like it is.. so we went back to the pawn shop with this new information and the pawn guy knocked $1500 off to cover rebuilding costs...
The thing is, is that other people were looking at buying this bike and were telling potential buyers that it was no good and not worth the $$$$$$.....these people were trying to get the bike for themselves at a reduced rate from the pawn broker down the track..

We stuck a deal with the pawn shop for $2500, and you know what, the motor is fine and goes like the clappers....

The moral to this story is..RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME FOLLOWED BY A LITTLE BIT OF HOMEWORK

Bummer about the engine.
Post your engine rebuild in the Drive Tech section.
If you get the 01 CR250, post that in the BEER CAN section.
Then everyone will get to see everything you do.
Not just a few people.

Looks fantastic really HEAPS
Ex-owners of the YZ 490 don't have good opinions about "her",some people who owned it said :

Was a great bike in the desert races but the engine troubles makes you think fast in a Kawa or Honda as a smart option.... ,though is a good museum bike,Yamaha didn't pay too much attention for that bike...

Yamaha and Suzuki both gave up on their big bores, it's just Yamaha hung on a little bit longer though.
Honda and Kawasaki put more effort into their bikes longer.
