just about anything can be accomplished if you want to make it happen . heres a example: a guy put banshee reed cage and tripple exhaust ports in a old polaris piston port motor. i dont ride sleds but its badass none the less, seeing the craftmanship that went into it is top notch creativity

41 mm Carb

PWK is the shiz! if I build another fast bike, pwk 41mm all the way if I'm sticking to gas. Although I really like my mikuni tm41pro and it obviously has some seriouse engineering and technology packed into a very finely built carb... its just a bear to dial in. I had noticeble gains switching to mikuni from a pwk 39, but the pwk39 started 1 kick and was far less tempermental on tuning. I got my mikuni running tits now after an exhaustive amount of tuning... but still takes 3 kicks to start everytime... kinda weird.
Alright, I need help on my cr500af, 2008 model. I have cleaned up the ports, they are smooth as a babies bottom, took very little material out though as this was my first port job. cut out the air box for more air, put in a 185 main, runs very clean and plug looks good. I want more power, I am looking at putting this 41 mm carb in the bike, where can I get it cheap, but new? What jets work best to start with at 300 feet over sea level? Any other mods to get more power out of it without more porting? I race it in local MX races and have rode a 500 since the 80's, the power does not intimidate me one bit, so I need more. Thanks in advance as I know you will be all over this reply.

cleaning the ports does nothing but waste time, i been down that road already. just pull the cylinder off and do alittle more work in there, if the gaskets and piston and rings are new then you could reuse everything so it wont cost anything but a days labor. head work will help also. carbs and aftermarket pipes and reeds by themselves do very little for gaining power, you might gain a couple but thats irrelevant if you ask me. to make any significant increases youll have to dive into the cylinder with a porting tool

the FCR seems pointless to me.
Alright, I ordered the PW41, I never re-use gaskets and am still waiting to hear from the 'king of this site' Mr. Danny Graves,. I almost always holeshot over the 450's I race against, but want more power. I have an 01 CR500 that I can steal parts off of, should I remove the black box, coil or fly wheel and swap for the SH stuff? All or part?

I saw a thread that dated back to june of 07 about a SH ignition issue, you really let ole Graves have it in one of the threads, I am new here and have reviewed quite a bit of his stuff, looks like he knows most of what he discusses, outside of using odd mismatched bolts on his bike. Let me hear your ideas on the ignition question I previously submitted. Then we will get Danny's perspective, and I will be the judge as to who is Honorable and who is homer.
Sounds like a fair assessment to me.

i dont know what thread your talking about but i can say ive always been cool with danny so what your saying makes no sense to me. what seems like teasing and name calling to most, is all in good fun around here......dont start crying and taking things so personal like the guys on the other site. as for your questions: danny will tell you the same thing i already told you.....fucking around with carbs and ignitions on a other wise basically stock motor has miniscule power gains. either get NO2 or have somebody port it that knows what their doing

. as for the S/H ingnition vs stock ignition......i wouldnt use a S/H ingnition if you gave it to me for free, i seen first hand their a peice of shit. i heard rumor AJ improved or was in the process of improving the ignition but i cant say for sure its available yet for purchase
