Thanks Hoofarted, I'll keep my eyes open.

Hornrapids is under private ownership now. I haven't raced there since 1991. But everyone is bitching about it now. They added and raised a bunch of the fees I guess.

Dude, brit, didn't you read my thread on IMS tanks being damn near impossibly to put on a gen-1 conversion, but the clarke only needs minimal mods. DON"T GET AN IMS FOR A GEN-1 CONVERSION!

For you guys with the Gen 3's running the 3+ gal aftermarket tanks, are you having to modify the tank in anyway for clearance? I'm still on the fence waiting to start converting and I've got a line an '05 CRF450 or an '03 CR250. I know I want to run a big tank and odds are I'll f'up a tank mod and would like to have as much clearance as possible. I'm leaning towards the Gen 3, but I could get the 450 a bit cheaper.

Speaking of tanks, is anyone other than GMX making an aluminum tank?

I had to mod my tank it was fairly simple to do. I used (Mister Heater) the propane heater to heat the whole bottom up then used a hammer to push it in where i needed. then stuck it under water to cool it. While still pushing.

the gen-3 250s are very simple to put an oversized tank on. Not sure about the gen-4 450, but with my gen-4 250 I would not even consider trying to put a desert tank on it! the stock tank alone requires over and hour of heat gun time and I popped a hole in 1 oem tank even. the gen-3 250 is a MUCH easier bike to convert than any 4 stroke chasis.

I had an IMS on a Gen 3 that had already been modded. It was still rubbing on the head and head stay.
I couldn't get it to stop leaking at the petcock.

I just put a Clarke on. It hit the spark plug and rad hoses.
Heated the general area and it's fine.
It clears the head stay and the head fine.
I like it.
