Exactly!

Long story short a friend of mine said many of the factory teams were running 15t sprockets on their 250s and 450s at Washougal and that a mechanic said because the engine doesn't loose as much torque trying to pull the chain and wheel. Made sense to me because we do that with snowmobiles. I tried it...made not a single bit of difference to me. So I'd rather run a lighter 14/49 combo over the larger heavier 15/52.

Not sure if it is a concern of yours but the 15 will wear itself and the chain out a lot less.

952, from all the tires i've tried on the 500 this one is by far the best for all around performence. I ride hard on everything from track to trail and get at least 10 rides out of these. The trail riding we do is a lot of hard pack and rocks which destroy most. Throttle control is your best friend for longevity. I still think the 756 is the best tire out there but 3 rides and it's done, but damn those are a good 3 rides

JBaze, I'm local. IRC M5B for the rear. Longevity and predictability. It may not be the best performance, and it may not last the longest, but the combination is the best for the PNW imho.

We have had good luck with shinko 520's. They wear excellent and hook up almost as good as a premium tire.

I noticed Michelin now is pretty honest with their size disrepancies:

A 140/80 S12 is similar to a 120/90 Dunlop. Which is why my 120/90-19 756 is wider than my Dad's 140/80-18 S12 when actually measured. The Dunlop is measured by the tire's carcass and has taller knobs.

Have the Maxxis IT on and it seemed the ware faster than usual, but considering it was put on a ride before the summer race series the first of June and was riden nearly once a week track only I guess thats not to bad. But then 20-22 rides and 25 gallons of fuel. Hmmm... Well I a new Kenda Wasuogal sticky as a series ending prise so that'll go on after new years. and a newish Kenda up front too.
