Yeah right, had me confused why you were saying you had to put a nut on one side but now I get it.Thats a CRF450R shifter.Much cheaper than a hammerhead and look cool too.

i think i actually used a cr500 sunline shifter...worked awesome anyways. one of the easiest parts of my bike to change.

I got mine from BTO sports, just checked their site and they only list the 250 and 450 as Danny said, not sure what site Danny was looking at though.Dont know where to get the 500 ones from, but as far as I know the 450 ones are either identical or very close and from what I have been told work fine.

I was at sunlines site (actyually sixsixone)
it looks a little shorter than the cr500 one just judging by the location of the shifter in relation to the ignition cover. maybe 1/2"-3/4" shorter. But if it mounts properly on a gen-4, sounds good to me

Danny you have no fucking idea what you are talking about !! I just went out the the shed to compare the stock one to that sunline one and its about 3/8" difference, not 1/2" or 3/4' :D .Well spotted,I wasnt aware of that.Something to keep in mind if it feels a bit short on the boots.Hey what do you do with your rear brake lever on the gen 4 ? Mine needs a dogleg in it.

I had to almost max out the adjustment so it wouldn't bang against the clutch cover and after bleeding it, it works great.
although the funny thing is I put my '89 side cover and clutch on it since I am planning on selling it and the '89 cover looked nicer, now there is plenty of room

Im assuming you mean to have the lever as low as practical for it to still be operational. Mine needs a dogleg of about an inch to clear the clutch cover.Strange the old clutch cover is narrower  Will have to look up your thread, any other gen 4 threads you know of ?

I didn't have to max out the adjustment, just went pretty far up in adjustment and my brake feels fine.
the '89 had fewer clutch discs, so the cover is shorter.

Nah I just want to see different ways of getting that brake lever looking and working as best as possible. Its either chop and weld, bash a dogleg into it which will shorten it slightly,or have a new bolt remachined, which fucks up the alignment of the master cylinder thing anyway so is pointless. You reckon Mike has new offset billet levers on the shelf ?? He should !!

yes he should...or someone should...it's so gay when you are so close to being finished a conversion and then you have the stupid brake lever to work out...and they are too solid to bend...you would have to cut and weld..

i think if a 02 250 clutch is swapped in a narrow clutchcase like the '89 you can stil use the roller 250 clutch lifter, supposed to have a junk engine next week, i'll confirm it then

This is where my brake lever sits.Now....take to it with a big F$#K off hammer,or chop it up and re-weld ???

Show us ! Have you machined your own blingy one have you ? Just about to do something with mine.... :?

cutting it and rewelding would be an easy enough solution. you could easily fill in the ugly space with weld and smooth it out to look stock...i think that's what i'm going to do with my brake levers...my clutch cover case will get too scratched up if i keep running it that way. it's close but still too close.

yeah probably the best way to go,worked out that with a 1'' offset at 45 degrees I will lose 3/8" in overall length which should be ok still.

Interested to see what Mike has done though......
