Mike might think Im dodgy,but the only heat treating I used was putting a heat gun on to take the chill out of ally before bending.I agree the "by the book" method would be to take it back to T 0 grade,bend it,then retemper back to T 6 after welding,but going to that amount of effort is difficult if the resources arent readily available.So hats off to Teem Trouble for doing a quality job.....[/quote]

Hey Mike,that pic of frame cradles is the start of my build.I am going to have a decent go at it in a few weeks time,so didnt want to go start a post about mine yet as I dont want to rush it.Anyway this post is about Dave's build.Reckon his is gonna look pretty sweet once he is finished with it.

Made some good progress this weekend. finished building the engine
and got it bolted up in the frame. im waiting for a few more parts to arrive and its ride time . This thing feels lighter than my 07 ktm250 2 stroke! cant wait to ride it!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah mate, final assembly was in my spare room and wheeled her in the kitchen for photos! ...the wife loved it!

i love the 2 stroke builds the best!!! Sweet job on that handmade y.... they are tricky but i'll say if you like the "works" look , then you won't be satisfied just moving the stock Y, even though the handmade sections take a bit more time.... i actually figured out that it took less time than fiddling with the original stuff....but im not a fiddler! Seriously though, nice work and what a sweet platform to start with!!! I have an 07 CR250 R i kept stock and i built up my 05 instead....your bike makes me wish i had done the reverse!!! i guess i could switch the shrouds but I'd know it wasn't my 07!!!!! Alloy Thunder Down Under!

Hey chachi243, thanks for the compliments mate i appreciate it. With all the info on this site its basically a case of researching all the builds and choosing the method that is with in your resources and skills.I would have liked to go the billet y route but im not a machinist so i went with the fabricated y section instead.
My bike is built on a 2002 cr 250 frame, although the frame and a few engine parts are the only second hand bits on the whole bike, the rest is all brand new.
