here are some pics:
notice the blueing, and the fact that only those 2 gears are mangled. even the shift forks and shafts look fine and we couldn't find anything broken off.

looks like something was chewed up in those gears
pad thickness on the forks: .194-.197
center fork inside diameter: .4332-.4339
r/l fork inside diameter: .4741-.4746
center fork shaft outside diameter: .4317-.4324
r/l fork shaft outside diameter: .4718-.4722
i had some forks and shafts around at one time that i "think" were still well within the limit.
not sure i still have them though. if you need parts ill look to see what i have. i dont have any gears though

yeah, the weird thing is the mating gears on the counter shaft look like new. I think someone half assed a rebuild at one time and said "oh, these gears will still work"

Once you get through the case hardening, things fail pretty quick...

welp just a lil update.. Motor runs again!!! A big thx to dannygraves adn TTM Mike for hookin a hoon up. I would have done it myself with someone watching over my shoulder but i dont have alot of the specialty tools needed to get things done properly so mr dannygraves said bring it on by we will rip it apart.. and thx to TTM mike for the box of tranny parts
I need to get a new coilwire as mine is wiggin out. I tried firing it up and the bastard wouldnt start so pulled the plug held it against the head and sometimes it would spark sometiems it wouldnt.. i would fiddle with the wire a lil try again and get more constant spark so i think thats on my list of things to replace soon. I also need a new collar for the exaust flange as it leaks like a mofo and an exhaust gasket (cant seem to find the one i got from DG)
Hey danny next weekend do you want to make a run out to the dry lake bed to get some tuning/riding in? I got a handfull of jets and some needles im itchin to try out

Dont think im gonna make it to dumont this weekend.. heard my grandfather in law was diagnosed with cancer and we might be making a speed run to san bernardino to visit him for the holiday.
Anyhow thx to all that have helped and guided me in my POS 500 rebuild journey i hope this is the end
