well, the box he made must have fallen apart because that box doesn't have the tape he descriped and you can tell, that paper and stuff was wrapped around the motor and jug. When the label fell off and UPS had to identify it, they opened it up and it looks like they reboxed it without rewraping the items.
The box everything came in was also much larger dimensions than what he shipped with. I'm fully blaming UPS for the shipping damage because they just laid the peices next to eachother on top of the foam peanuts with that paper stuff shoved in the bottom. I had friends who worked for UPS who told me everyday about the terrible things they did to packages and how no one cares.
that $300 I insured it for isn't even a drop in the bucket for them. hopefully they will just pay me to go away! I've been a PITA for them since this package was late, they were ready to cut me a check without even doing a "thorough search" they only did the "quick search" so when I bitched the dude out, he admitted they could try harder and sure enough it was found the same day, thrown in a box all willie nillie and sent to their overgoods department, the overgoods department saw a kicker poking out the box, so they shoved the whole box in an even bigger box and shipped that to me.

wait. who boxed it up? that's who is at fault. you can't assume just because you are paying someone to do a job they are gonna do it with care. the otor should have been packaged to expect a drop or kick. ask teem trouble about the box my frame came in when I sent him my stuff for my conversion.

I agree with the others too Danny. The shipper should of done a way better job of packing. Look at Heim's YZ motor you did. Ya, it was overkill. But if your motor was in that wooden box, you'd be a lot better off. Oh well.

I agree... I shipped out a 440 sled motor a few months ago and built a crate out of 2x4s and 1/2 ply wood with holes cut out for handles and 3 labels stapled and taped of different sides just incase one got ripped off. I kinda over built the crate, but I guarantee the motor got there safely. I also shipped a ysr50 motor a couple months ago and had it wrapped inb about 10 feet of bubble wrap sitting on a custion of crumpled paper with crumpled paper filling everyvoid and I use that super thick card board. it was solid. I have found from experience that items jingling around inside the box is usually the cause of damage.

make sure he rejets it, I opened up the boost port opening in the cases, he'll probably need to fatten it up, plus riding in pismo... make sure he bumps the main up 2 sized... if it blubbers, thats a hell of a lot better than blowing up a fresh rebuild.

Ya but the Clan man had to chime in, cause some might get the two confused.

Somehow I knew this wasn't going to be good even before the shipping deal. No offense to Big J. But dam. Buying a motor that old from someone who has not been riden with is risky business.

this is FUCKED!!!
I've been sticking up for the guy because he seemed like a nice guy! I opened up the motor today and...
when I was a mechanic, whenever we had a blown head gasket that got driven on, we called the resulting oil "chocolate milkshake".
thats what was in this motor, and guess what, the oil was drained... so, that right,Bigjay knew!!!!!
all of the bearings are FUBAR and there is rust on all sorts of trans parts!!!
The bottomend is simply garbage!!! I can't even get the crank out because its rusted to the bearing in the left case and my puller stripped out both stator holes!
