I keep hearing P/C rebuilt that bike from the ground up, changed the frame, and thats why S/H is never mentioned in regards to Maddo's career......

Bob,
Not sure where you keep "hearing" that ;)
but like ,most net rumors and innuendo
its entirely inaccurate.

just curious how many PC stickers do you see on it?
isnt it normally very red bull orieted?

PC moded the head ,
robbie told me that was it, and yes he was quite specific..
they were talkingabou tdoing some port work as well
(and robbie was calling me for recommended engine mods for the next jump).

anyway-
at the time of both world record jumps-
the bike is/was essientially a stock Service Honda 500AF

it does have some minor engine work done by PC.
which robbie told me did not help much, for specifically what he was doing with the bike .

obviuosly the suspension has been revaled and resprung,
all normal enough , and expected mods.
for jumping huge gaps?

The reason the bike isn't covered in Service Honda graphics
is because red bull is maddos major sponser ,
and the bike was bought out right, and paid for in full.
and while SH has a good working relationship with robbie,
we are not one of Robbies many official sponsors.

If you watch the no limits TV show,
during the practice times/jumps regarding the jan 1 attempt , you see the bike still had all its stock SH CR500AF graphics and plastic on it,
the night of the jump it was adorned appropraitely in red bull trim, as it should be.

mike-
lol dang tough crowd.,
not sure if you were joking or serious man..

but SH can certainly build a world record bike ,without PC's help..
while i respect thier work,, this type of situation isnt thier fortay.,
and they have had me specifically build 500AF bikes for them.
for a few different occassions ,but this diffinantly wasnt one of them.

trigger gumm, a previous world record holder -
has been on an essientally stock CR500AF for quite awhile.
and its WHY robbie-mado contacted us to buy his world record bike.
a SH CR500AF.

As far as the FMX crew or distance jumpers,
the list is very long of SH CR500AF owners.
metzger
deegan
seth
trigger gumm and
robbie maddison

are just a few.
(and most own multiple years of CR500AFs and are repeat customers)

Thats gotta be some scarey shit knowing something you built is being stressed to the max on live TV and in front of thousands

I gotta give you props on that on AJ

Wow!! Very interesting...I never took Deegan or Metzger as the big bore type. Pretty sweet though.

I wonder why Robbie had PC mod the head? Can't remember the last time I gapped 350+ feet  but it seems to me the half liter engine would really need to be turning. So I can't imagine more compression would do any good at all whereas maybe a little less might? I woulda thought a simple port and head match would have been the first option.

I just figured SH doesn't get so much props because it briefs better when people are left feelling that Robbie is riding an unobtainable machine. "Factory" if you will?

That is awesome no matter how many times I see it!!!! After seeing the way Dan Pastor's front wheel taco'd on a big air jump I would rate the 2nd attempt with the bent wheel as downright insane............

mick-
nice vids-
and yes part of it , is that it does play "better" as some one off unobtainium bike, built JUST for this ver y jump--
to the average TV viewers ;)
and you notice how the show catered to that.

The no limits event, was allegedly a huge neilsen rating getter,,
besting even the X games for number of viewers(wild)

Maddos later jump in australia breaking his own new years ever record..
was a jump off deal up agaisnt seth (on a crf450) capes (on a kxf450)
and was also supposed to include trigger on his CR500AF,
,Trigger was there but had recently busted his foot so couldnt compete.
thses guys ca ngo out and hit 19 250' + jumpas in amorning practicing up..so the bikes take some serious abuse (and thier bodies)

brit,,
After seeing trig jump countless times safely , but also crash a few times,, (and seth was on my own personal 99 race bike, when he over jumped the ramp and busted his noggin years ago at about 220 feet)
i was a little nervous new years eve,, sweating maddos welfare.
or some bizaare fluke thing causing him a mishap ,,like a wind gust ,
as it was windy that night!
the guy has distances dialed for sure, and its scary thought, but it's almost routine to these guys.
The SH crew was certainly watching and cheering him on.. its was deafening in the bar when he hucked it safely !!

some trivia- Maddos dad is a big CR500 fan..himself and rides quite a bit

AJ were you there at all of these jumps?

I don't know about Dan Pastor...he must have been beaten with a stupid stick as a child. Obviously money and video cameras can make people do some stupid shit. Worked for Seth, but I think Dan needs to find another job.

This is a pic of me at County Line MX. It's a fourth gear jump.
Image
If somebody had a camera, offered me some cash and I was a total idiot, I could hit it in fifth gear too and produce the same results as Pastor. I could be an internet sensation overnight

In regards to these distance jumpers I do see a thin line between audacious and stupid. For example, Robbie wouldn't hit a 220ft. gap fifth gear pinned. Because he knows his face would look strikingly similar to Dan Pastors.

Dang that thing sounded good.

His landing on the 280' was pretty sketchy.

sabre -invited out to all of them,,but no couldnt make it to all..though i would have liked to, thats for sure!
ive seen a lot of practice jumps , and youd be surprised just how many times these guys have gone that far before an official record attempt ,
with the guiness guys present ..
(lots of rules pon grafde, on tail wind etc etc have to be met and
are specific to that jump ,in the exact conditions of the moment )

a common net rumor was also that seth broke the 500AF bike in that failed attempt years ago ..
(you can see the jump and crash in seth's "the hard way")

but the bike was absolutely fine.
what he broke was some aftermarket triple clamps.

and honestly unfortunantly over jumping the ramp at 220' and completely flat landing it is surprising thats all he broke, ,-
triple clamps and his skull(eye socket)

it was great to see that he hit 300 feet in australia ,he had been chasing a big number like that for quite awhile.

the aussie event is one i would have really liked to attend..
but couldn't make it :(
