These were stock Honda plates both fiber and steel. I replace the inner hub last year sometime so it's new, but not the pressure plate. I haven't ever heard of a problem with the pressure plate but I guess I will replace it as well. I will put a straight edge on it first though becuase warpage would be the only thing I could see wrong with it. The steels weren't real heavy duty though compared to what I'm used to.

The OEM honda ones are aluminium plates not steel.

At first the Honda shop gave me Aluminum, I took them back and told them I wanted steel so the replaced the stock Honda Aluminum plates with stock Honda Steel plates. I don't know what bike they are from and this could be the problem although they fit fine, (maybe from an XR or maybe Honda did offer steel but you have to ask) they were fairly light duty. Not as bad as the aluminum but not like the TRX 250r steel plates I'm used to.
I am not a clutch abuser and don't use the clutch much to shift but there still is a load on the clutch eventhough you don't use it. I just don't think the stock springs are heavy enough for the load the sand gives. I have a big paddle tire on this bike as well.

The clutch I'm still running I got used. When I was putting my '86 together, I needed some clutch parts, and ended up getting everything to convert to the newer setup off a clean ass '93 that was being parted on ebay. He just left the clutch with it, I chucked the ebc springs and ran the super tight stock '86 springs and I'm still hammering that clutch (well, not right now anyway

)

what kind of package were they in ? if they werent seperate in a plastic sealed bag with honda sticker or plastic box with honda sticker then they were probly some sort of aftermarket plates. but there is no "specific" cr500 plates because the cr250 used the same plates in some years, and many other bikes over the years may have used the same plates as a cr500, but im not aware of any dirtbike from honda that had steel plates. if they are infact OEM steel plates, they may have been from a streetbike application (cbr600 possibly).

They were in individually wrapped Honda labelled plastic bags just like every stock Honda clutch plate is. I don't know what machine they were from though proabably some kind of street bike. Looks like I willl be starting over though. Will get heavier springs next time for sure.

The carbon one I slapped in holds 2nd gear, 30 shot WOT launches with no slipping or overheating, Ive done 5-6 practice launches with no issues.

So you read my previous posts concerning the burnt clutch I thought I had. So this is a new Hinson basket with everything installed correctly, new OEM Honda fibers (the correct amount) and OEM Honda Steels, so the Honda shop I go to said that there is a steel plate as an optional CR 500 part that is offered. I guess you have to go to a Honda shop that has parts guys that are intelligent to find this out? New stock CR 500 clutch springs. I pulled this clutch apart and it's like brand new. So it's apparent that the pressure plate is not fully engaging closed to apply enough pressure to clamp the clutch tight. Has anyone ever had this problem? Inner hub is new, pressure plate isn't but I can't hardly see how these would ever wear out. The only thing I can figure is either the steels aren't thick enough or, somehow the clutch rod is not fully seated in the little lever that the clutch cable rides up aganist.
Any ideas? Never ran into this before.

what year clutch is it? if you have a '90+ hub and put '89- fibers in it, it won't fully enguage because there is 1 fiber and 1 plate missing.

it's a 93, I have the correct amount of fibers and steels I believe, 8 fibers and 7 steels, that should be correct, right?
