if I was going to spend 15+k to race baja with a 500 it would be worth it

it would be worth it anyways.

The reason I don't think it is worth it is that the rod bearings usually wear out before the mains.

From what I hear, the ceramic bearings have less resistance. If a CR500 engine has the main and tranny bearings in ceramic, wouldn't you notice an increase in performance? Maybe more power, throttle response, and over rev? I would be interested in hearing the results on a CR500 outfitted with ceramic bearings. It sounds like it could be another mod to do that you would notice some gains along with reliabilty.

seems alot of people use the term "over rev". can someone clue me in on this term ? the motor revs to a certain point of its peak HP, then falls off....REAL FAST. ya it will keep revving after that point, but whats the reasoning behind holding the throttle after that......shift the fuker to the next gear :?

By "performance" you mean an increace in exceleration, it would be $500 cheaper to just add 2 pounds to each tire.

Set cost aside for a moment and think about what kind of gains there might be. The F1 guys along with road race teams use these bearings for a reason. I know we do not turn near the RPM's they do, but I still wonder if there are benefits. You are right about over rev, I just wonder if it will rev just a hair further in its "usable" power range. I do know when to shift, I know when the power signs off.

It probably wont rev FURTHER... It will more than likely rev QUICKER gaining a tiny bit of acceleration.

Thats what I was thinking too.
