Corvettes get good mileage..... all considered.
My buddy's 2006 gets 29 mpg freeway all the time. City is something like 15.
Aerodynamics and tall gearing =

The vettes are very very very nice in fact I want one pretty bad but they suck as a DD, they have no back seat are a bitch to get in and out of and are really really low.
Also WTF is the deal with them still using leafsprings???????

I don't know about the new Camaro's. To me they look like a bubble top Caddy.

Yeah me too. Last weekend at an all Mopar show someone took one and made a convertible Cuda out of it. I didn't get a picture of it though

but it looked good.

They claim that "Shelby Ford Mustang GT 500 Gains 53.71 HP with K&N Air Intake System".
Could this be true? 50+ friggin hp with a new airbox

The gains could have been from extra boost creaded by less restriction. 1lb of boost is roughly 25hp extra, couple that with a "forgiving" dyno and you have your 50 hp.
I dint notice ANY gains with K+N intake on my truck, they can actually hurt performance by pulling in hot underhood air vs the cold ducted stocker.
They make the blower sound AWSOME tho

the best to me is magnaflows site, just look at their dyno sheets!! freaken hillarious!
yeah, I really need to get and air intake for my truck because all the baffle crap they put on is very restrictive. I plan on getting one with the insulator so it doesn't suck it hot engine compartment air.
yeah, on my starion I have a 6"long 4" wide pipe with a huge freaken K&N cone filter on it, and the turbo sound that came out of it was killer!

Magnaflow has their own in house chassis dyno. Everything they claim in their literature can be backed up by their tests. I'd be happy see if I could set you up with a tour of their facility if you want to see what they do.

I know, my friend Marie used to work pretty high up there in their RSM building. I just laugh at the graphs themselves.
She got me into SEMA and a few other places and hooked me up with some freebies too. I'm probably gonna give her a call to see about getting a cat back for the wifes expedition

Too bad it cant be backed up at the track...
A friend bought the whole system.... it was lighter than stock and that accounted for most of the gain....
Been to their dyno with this car...
Nice place.

Anyone who has built/raced anything I think would agree that the best dyno is the seat of the pants or at the racetrack. Manufacturer's sometimes use funny math.
Danny.......was your friend Marie Aw?

yup, old high school friend of my wifes! she comes out to visit us and takes us out to like a $200 dinner every once in a while. Shes a kick ass friend, never made me pay for anything and will bend over backwards for anyone, which is why I don't like asking her for favors.
do you know her personally?

Ha Ha.......I know Marie from doing business with Magnaflow and I make the trek to Sema every year. I was there in 06' and in the booth quite a bit with customers. If you talk to Marie, tell her that her rep from St. Louis says hi. She always seemed like a nice girl and I hated to hear that she got let go. I hope wherever she landed, she's doing good and hopefully she stopped smoking Camels.
Small world.

HAHAHA!
unfortunately, I don't have any pics and it would be hard to explain to the wife why I would have pics of her friends boobs!

But I can tell you that I think they went too big...I know, I know, there is no such thing, but she seriously looks like she is gonna fall over!

This thread sure took a turn for the better.
Back on topic.
AlisoBob wrote:Same $$$ will get you a Z06.... To me their is no comparison. The Mustang is a Mustang... with a blower. The Z06 is bumper to bumper performance. 2009 is supposed to offer 600 hp.

I've been waiting for this. I'm surprised it took so long for you to put it up.
The Z06 is one fine, fine machine. Wouldn't mind having one.
As far as cost, not even close.
A Z06,
http://www.chevrolet.com/byo/byoSelectS ... hicle=true
That's 50% more than the Mustang/Shelby.
And I can load up the family for the weekend, go out to dinner or anywhere else I want. Can't do it with a Vette.
I love Vettes. I have had two.
As far as the Viper GTS. I like those too, especially the Blue w/white. A few years ago, I was looking at them. Same problem as the Vette.
Can't haul any more people than I could with my various motasickles.
Along comes the Mustang/Shelby with 500 HP, hauls my family, available in Blue w/white and under 50k. Done deal.
Think what you want about 'Stangs, this new generation is way ahead of anything before it. Ask anyone who has driven one.
As for the 600hp Vette. That's the new ZR-1. MSRP will be 100k +.
On a Clayton dyno, my stock GT put down, 420 rwhp.
It's now doing 550+ rwhp.
Lowering it with some Eibach Pros / Bilsteins gives it some attitude and a nice ride.
With the 3.73's I can get 4 gear rubber anytime I want. I am having a blast with this thing.
So for anyone who doesn't like my car

Nice Mad Dog. I haven't looked at or priced a car in a loooooong time so I have no clue what they all are anymore.
You have a very nice car and if anyone says different who gives a rats ass.

Hell my 62' Dart has an uglier then sin body style but that's also what I think makes it cool.
