I don't like that EVS thing at all. It looks bulky and uncomfortable. It you want neck protection get the new Leatt that's only $179. As far as gear I like Thor and have had good luck with them. I just got some Moose Sahara gear but haven't worn it yet but it fit good when I put it on. If you need gear and don't want to spend alot keep checking Dennis Kirks and RM's blowout section they usually have some really good prices.

:?
I'd be careful with that helmets are designed crush to absorb impact. I'm sure you know this already, but it won't be as good next time and may not have sufficient protection next time you crash. If the helmet was already a couple years old I would pitch it and get a new one as they deteriorate over time too. From the sounds of your crash I'd say it was a big enough impact that I would have a hard time trusting that helmet to do its job again.

As far as the knee pads I'm with MFDB on the 661's that strap above and below your knee. They stay in place really well at least on my skinny legs
Also rather then try and fix you chest protector I would look into a 661 pressure suit. I used to wear a plastic chest protector and after I bought a suit I would never go back. They protect way better and are pretty comfortable while having a good range of motion. They are more expensive but protect a lot more too. They have pads on the chest, spine, shoulders, elbows, and forearms. Covers way more area that a plastic chest protector and all in one unit which I like.

I guess all that is just opinion but good gear has saved my butt a lot of times. And fast bikes like the 500 require more than usual I think, they can get away from you so fast. And what good is a fast bike if your hurt and can't ride it.
