the 55 is the part number, the oversize should be stamped on the top middle. since looks like a .5mm oversize jugjing by the compression releases. measure to be sure. you either need a .75 or 1.0mm over (by my guess.
I had the same rad problem with my '87 cr125. I took the rad to a radiator shop, and they straitened them and cleaned them out for like $40.
you got $10 in your paypal... the last time they got a collection together was for me :D great bunch of guys!
lewisclan has some solid advise, try to get away with just flushing the bottomend.

im all for not having to rebuild the bottom end, Bob also suggested i flush it with diesel untill it pours out clean, definitly better than redoing the bottom end!

also.. do we have a preffered vendor for top ends and gasket kits? i need

1) a top end kit

2) complete top end gasket set

3) clutch cover gasket

4) water pump gasket

5) reed cage gasket

I kicked in $10 for the cause, too.

What's the story behind the looter guy piston? Is that one of the board members swapping out a top end, or just some random dude that lent himself well to a photoshop opportunity?

I like using honda parts direct for OEM stuff SH is great also.
You might just want to go ahaed and get the complete gasket set it's only like $23 or so at hpd might be cheaper than getting the pieces individually.

This was at HonFEST a few years ago. The guy on the right is none other than Shanman, on the left is Big Dave Cook. I dont know who is in the middle.

Shan had water or dirt in his carb, I cant remember. He had a 4 gallon tank on there ,pretty much surrounded the motor and had to come off to tinker with it. We had tons of fun with the Looter Guy. He got spliced into allot of Hoon Photos!

Good times!!

Jay, do you know where you are going to have it bored?
Glen at GSS charges about the same as my local shops, only he uses a torque plate and knows 500s inside and out, and could also probably repair your head, since I imagine it is all dinged up.
if you go with another wiseco make sure to tell the machinist to bore to atleast .004 tollerance. you have to tell them this since the box will say to bore to .003
goodluck man!

Any $$$ that gets exchanged here... goes "member to member"... and not in the "Site Admin's" wallet like some other CR500 sites.

:headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

I personally thank everyone who helps Jay out.

LOL :D

One thing it took me a long time to learn is rider weight has a LOT to do with the outcome of drag races.

Just look at bob everyone spanks him

I will say that the GSS motor has a TON more balls than the stocker in my AF and revs wayy higher. It just sux having to buy race gas all the time :(

$20 @ ya.

That happened to me, only I was stuck out in the dunes for 4 hours before a clapped out 4 Runner came along with a white guy wearing a huge afro wig. I thought, Ummka.... but I gota get back to camp. Shit that was nearly 4 years ago minus two weeks. The wife was starting to freaking out cause it was Valentines/ Pres weekend, thought I didn't love her anymore or I broke my leg. It wasn't Until I gave her a big huge, rubbed her back and siad its ok, that she clammed down.

This was the bikes maiden voyage for me, glad I brought the 250. Swaped the paddle and rode so more.
