this whole thing reminds me of gss. said he been working on the same engines day after day for 20yrs but if you look at what goes out the door it seems like they didnt learn anything along the way. like a little kid trying to ride a bike until hes 45 and still has the training wheels on

This quote is seriously fucked up:
"he tells me thats the wrong way, the right way is to put the rollers on the tins and measure to where the bearing goes...."
An Engine Specialist said this?
Un fucking believable.
Idiots running the dial guage off the 'tins', I've seen that - this, is even more idiotic.
I've read some truly idiotic / BS things here every now and then - the majority of things are fine and dandy - , but this, takes the winning laurels.
If this is real /verbatim as to what was said, run, do not walk, away from this mob.

theres no way hes that stupid (otherwise seanmx57s crank woulda arrived crooked)

s/h site shows a new bike. appears they replaced the octogon tube with sqaure. dont look right in the footpeg junction area.

. must be a bunch of weld to fill in the extra space from using the wrong tube. oh well. aint like were buying so who cares

That link shows the runout being checked at the journal in the bottom pic.
I've chatted with steve regarding this thread. Seems the truth is being distorted heavily according to him. 143 CR500 cranks balanced so far, first complaint.
My lower end is super nice.
Evidently the vesrah rod pin messed up the crank when it was pressed in. Steve said ithe pin was burred and shotty QC which caused a bunch of other problems.
I invited him to give a full explanation here and he declined.
Sure glad I'm running a pro-x rod.

Evidently Steve is a douche for
A: not knowing If he should use the Versah rod,
B: measuring the parts before slaming things together, and not advising or supplying something better.
The Versah rod has nothing to do with sending the crank to the customer. out of true.

its possible vesrah might be made in the same facilities as prox and all the other jap rods. but regardless theres always a chance for a bad part. if its true the part was bad, he probly hoped the customer wouldnt notice the problem. thats something glen would do and has done many times. not cool. i dont see steve having much sucess if he keeps up this type of crap.

look at what i got, no distorted truth in that, believe me i really wanted to get it done right, wanted to believe it was done right
why couldnt he have phoned me and said vesrah pin messed up your crank, here are your options... if vesrah poor qc mangled my crank why wasnt i told before i bought the second one??????
if you think im lying? or stupid phone Ian at riders edge suspension (250-542-0269) and ask about chris"s cr500 crank
http://www.ridersedgesuspension.com/index.html
roosty calls me to let me know he had to wreck a $4 case dowel....
went over what it cost me and the total is
$1000 and i have a welded out of true crank... i earn $15 an hour, thats a big chunk of money for me...
$500 to "balance"
$150 fix crack and install another rod kit (i supplied the rod kit)
$250 to buy another crank to keep riding while the "balanced" one is being fixed
$100 shipping
and to top it off it vibrates the same as before
i am starting to suspect he didnt take into acount the vesrah rod being 20 grams lighter, next time i have it out i will check the balance factor....
its not him making a mistake than pisses me off, its how he dealt with it, not telling me whats going on...
after talking on the phone with him he asks me to send a pic, i send it

heres what he had to say
Chris:
I remember what happened. That crank had a pin welded when i got it . Thats the grinding marks you saw. I had to repair that area this time and you shouild be all set now. The rod was ok but I put your new one in . Not impressed with Vesrah !! Total cost $ 150 . call with credit card # and i'll send it
my reply
must have got my crank mixed with someone elses cause there was no pin welded when i sent it, brand new oem crank first time its been touched, if it comes back true, stays true and my mechanic dosent flinch when looking at it ill be happy
how true is it? i hope within 1/2 a thou
also does the vesrah look poor quality?
money sent by paypal
250-938-9307
so when it arrives and i find out its 3 thou out of true and i phone him he basicaly tells me its straight and whoevers measuring it is doing it wrong

no, cause i spilt a bunch of engine ice down the cases before i rebuilt it and that engine ice stained the crank, its definatly mine

this is all pretty sad. wonder if one of his pimple face part time high school helpers may have done it and hes trying to back pedal and save his hide. the owners manual has a picture of where to check the crank, frikin 7yo kid could do it. unbelievable a so called pro would do this shotty work. but then again look what glen did. 20 years and he cant grind ports straight. or shave a head. or bore a hole
