There is no "standard model" as you put it.

There are so many options...

It makes it impossible to say because of options in chassis's, new or rebuilt motors, who supplies the donors and the combinations are endless... is that hard to understand?

It is hard to understand why custom only builds are constantly compared to production bikes.
I thought maybe you offered a production standard model

Not to prolong this or what ever, but the bikes that SH builds are not production bikes. If they are when did Honda Motor Co. begin offering aluminum frames for the CR500 engine for sale? The SH bikes are infact custom bikes, they take an alum. framed 4 stroke and re-engineer the frame to accept the CR500 engine, the same thing everyone else does. Those are not production models, if they were they would be for sale in all the Honda shops.

In this case the SH500AF is a production bike, produced by SH.

I disagree. Simply because I feel to qualify as a production unit, each one should be built identical. And they are not.

Thats like saying a car manufacture cant have any variations in fitment of doors and hoods. All new cas of the same model are goint to be slightly different. Some will make a little more HP, some will get slightly better mileage, some will ride better than others.

Just my opinion, but I think others will feel that the Service Honda bike is a production unit. Not 1 off customs

What are you saying??? My bike really wasn't produced by Honda I would have never guessed...

And why in the fuck are the same dudes still complaining about this shit? I like my SH, and given my experience with them so far and the enjoyment I've had with the bike I may be inclined to purchase another. If you don't like the welds take your fucking money some place else. Atleast we HAVE options in this small ass market of 500AFs. If you're a guy that just couldn't possibly enjoy a SH or absolutely need a stronger platform for all that hardcore single track riding you do, you know who to call. End of discussion...

Thats coming from the manufactuer. SH is not a manufacturer. If they were, the bikes would not be called Honda, because Honda IS a manufacturer. So they are in point of fact producing 1 off customs as is TTM and everyone else who builds and sells converted aluminum framed CR500's.

Also, I am not complaining like I said I built my own bike. As hard on a bike as I am, I would be hard pressed to spend that much on one because I would kill it within a year or 2.

just thought I'd throw something at this ,SH lists there base model which you could call they're "production" model for $8999.00 but obviously there is variances with everyone of them

I'm sure the price will drastically increase as you add the hop-ups

They will not build you a CUSTOM bike, I know, because I asked...

They do have a list of parts you can request... but not 100% custom.

Like I've said before... the older bikes were better. I've seen them.

Something has changed at S/H, and unfortunatly..... due to AJ dodging the question....we'll never know what it is.

Maybe AJ will offer the owner of this bike a 2009 frame to swap out, if the 2009's return to the former level of craftsmanship.
