Here's a couple pics of my headstay.

Now that folks are using my info to build their own, I began to ask myself.. "Is there anything you would do different?"

See the photo above... That's as far "clockwise" as you can rotate the motor with the stock cradle. The bolt below the clutch cover barely misses the frame, and the water pump up front does the same with the cradle.

If I had it to do over again, I would have modified it more, to turn the motor a few degrees . I have plenty of room for the radiator cross over hose. I would trade some of that clearance for a easier time routing the coolant hoses coming out of the head, and to raise the rear of my pipe up a little.

Just a few more degeres would make allot of difference...

its hard to tell with the photo, but does the bolt almost hit the cast or forged part of the frame/weld or the tube? if its the cast or forged, i have an idea on how to get that to clear nicely without sacrificing the strength of the assembly. the water pump issue seems fairly simple, once you get the other done.

ive been trying to find a die to bend some tube up before i cut my frame, but its hard to find a square tube die that doesn't have the rib to fold the inside part of the tube, and i can't use a mandrel with my bender. i could make a die up myself, but i don't want to put the money into that and not get the results i want. i may throw it a piece into my round die and see what kinda results i get. ive heard of one person getting the results i want with square steel in a round die.

reading the problems with the fuel tank is making me want to just weld up like a 3.5 gallon tank out of stainless for mine going up and out .Does anyone know where I can get a fuel neck that bolts on?

Black pipe - thought it was a CR250R for a moment.

I'll fall on my sword again - it looked just like mine but probably cost half.

So I'm looking at the headstay issue, and think about my original plan to move the frame block over, and fab straight plates... Bad idea ( time wise) because its double the work... two tasks instead of one.

What to do....what to do...

I think these are Gen 1 CR125 head stay plates ( anyone know?) PERFECT angle!!



These are going to only take slight reworking!! If the bike buzz's badly, I may still lop off the block and go with my original plan.. but for now... I'm taking the easy route...

That looks just like how I thought you should do it. Cept maybe a cross member in the middle of the two plates.

Since the plates are installed backwards, I cut off the tab and flipped it. Once TIG'ed together... WHAMO! Done.

That little ,factory, pilot hole lines up EXACTLY with the foreword mount hole... You just have to open it up to 10mm. Shithouse luck or what!
