the dome is likely made to better fit the ML3R head casting than the old piston that matched the 1985-86,ML3 and ML3N heads. means that the work done to the R heads with different squish mods to replicate the N will need to be reconsidered

Do they still want you to drill the holes on the exh side for the bridge

All forged pistons should be drilled, in my opinion, its cheap insurance that doesnt have a penalty. I also relieve the bridge, but some say you only need one or the other...

honda says do the bridge, wiseco says to drill, sounds like both

looks cool

. not sure i like the skirt coating though. once it wears you got atleast .0015-.002" extra slop in there, not counting the sleeve wear. did pc9 on one of mine only because i didnt have extra $250 for replate at that point in time. had the cash been available i would of never coated. hopefully somebody can put some hours on one in the near future and report the longevity.

At least with PC9 you can recoat for short money when it wears down

definatly a place in the world for pc9. guys restoring old bikes sometimes have no other options except recoat pistons. had mine done because lack of funds to do a replate. havent put a ton of hours on it but i pulled the pipe and everything looked fine.

I guess so, but seeing as how its in every manual that came with every bike i kinda considered that to be hondas way of saying (you'll fuck it up if you dont do this)

Hey, back on the piston topic, do you have time to check how tall the dome is.
the stock and other aftermarket ones have been .268"

I just recieved my care package from GSS including one of these new pistons at 90mm. (thanks Glen) I plan to have the motor reassembled and on the track thursday night.
Comparing this piston to the older wiseco that just came out of my bike and can verify the dome is a bit taller, and the skirt is a bit different. Sorry Roosty i cant tell you an exact measurment but it is taller.
Ill have a ride report up this week. One aspect i will be paying close attention to is the vibes. I have an SnT crank in there and noticed ALOT less vibes when i changed from the PRO-X to the Wiseco. Bike had alot less vibes in the higher RPM's with the Wiseco.

im not understanding wiseco logic. their other pistons they coat up top and underneath but not skirts. new honda slug they coat skirt but not top or underneath. wth
