A 500 might put up with the bad longer than most, but whatever will kill a 450 will also kill a 500, it might just take longer.
If I buy a brand new bike, properly maintain, take good care of it and keep on top of things, like re-ring every 2 years, keep on top of valve adjustments, etc. it should last a good long time the same way the thumpers owned by several of my friends have.
Sounds about right to me.

Hmm....a New KTM 300.....elect. start, lighting, and runs like a raped ape......sounds like the New Bike Winner to me!
i can understand the draw to them....go into a corner, give it half throttle, and thats what you get......my 250, its either slow and lug it, or rip through a corner, there is no comfortable medium if you come in a little sketchy.

Exactly, I actually have been planning on getting a cr or yz250 to MX with to make me faster. Admitedly, I am slower now that ive been on a thumper all this time. They are so much easier to ride they dont make you faster like a smoker...

I know that Willis, I was simplifying to avoid confusion since "F" (after engine size) in Hondas means crappy air cooled trail bike...

Well now I have had a good sleep, I have just read all of this and now I am even more confused than when I was tired.
So tell me what the hell bike was Danny talking about for $4000
Is it a YZ or is it not, is it a 4 stroke or is it not.
I am sure I wrote it was a 4 stroke, but we are both wrong.
Obviously I am missing something, could someone please fill me in on what it is.
Danny wrote 06 yz250s, I thought he hit the s key instead of the f key which would make it a YZ250F which is a 4 stroke.
I think I need to take some tablets and lay down for a couple of days.
