The bike looks great P&P!

I worked on the rads, it's more work than I thought. I am doing some custom hose work, and getting the hoses the right length plus putting the clamps on at just the right angles due to clearance isn't easy. I will put more time into it tomarrow, then I hope it will be done. The next pics I post will show the bike being ridden, or at least running.

OK! It's done, and it started in 3 kicks. It sounds great, has no leaks, and idles very well considering I have done nothing to the carb yet. I havn't even checked my jetting, but the bike is ready for a test ride. I have a feeling there will be a few things that need attention but for tonight I am just happy to hear it go bling bling bling bling.

Damn, that thing hasn't been started since late '05. I'm really surprised only 3 kicks! Good for you. I was told the jetting is stock, but I never did check, just adjusted the air screw. Awesome job Terence, you should have one hell of a bike, for the bargain of the decade!

I rode the sweet machine today, it was a fine ride. I was very happy with the way it rode, and can't wait to give it a real test run.

me likey!! realyl nice bike bro. i bet your glad to have it done, i know its been an ongoing project but the end result is awsome. all these steelie projects turning out so nice is making me want to do a gen 1.

I can take some pics of the rads and hoses tomarrow I think. It was a bitch to get everything all buttoned up on the rads, but after it was done, it isn't complecated. The modifiers were at motorcycleradiators.com and they did a great job, and did it FAST.

Rode it today. Very fast for the area here. Bike ran great, and idled fine the entire time. The cooling system worked well, and the bike cooled down fast. The right side rad lost a mounting screw, so I need to use some locktight on them. The bike vibrates quite a bit, but I have a couple measures to implement to combat this issue. The suspension is solid, feels like it would rock for MX. For me the feel is a bit solid, which is gonna be good for me. Soft ssupension makes me a lazy rider, this will make me work harder on keeping the front end tracking and keep me focusing ahead. Scary bike for this area, way to fast hehehe.

you might want to consider going with a two-piece head stay. Several of the guys on this site claim it helps control vibration quite a bit. Let me know if you are interested...we could probably whip something up pretty quickly to give it a try.

Well I'm gonna go with a pair of Protaper bars filled with silicone, and check to see if it has solid mounts or rubber. I am going to find some grips with more thicker rubber too. What other things can you guys think of that would be worth trying to get rid of the vibrations, or lessen them anyhow.

I thing the double sided headstay (like shanman said) is the best fix.

Rubber mounts and silicone are a bandaid for the real issue. Mine has the single side headstay and DEFINATLY vibrates more than bobs double sided jobbie.

mine vibes bad, and with solid bar mounts, hollow protapers, and thick squishy grips, the vibes in the bars are less of a prob than the vides in the foot pegs. I got used to it though
I'm gonna try making my own 2 sided headstay with some 1/4" t6 stock I have a sheet of in the garage.
I will let you guys know how it works out.

My steelie vibed through the pegs way more than my Gen 4 A/F.

You want the motor mounted as solidly as you cab make it.

2X headstays are a must.

Pro Rally Grips and Flexx bars.

Getting the right pilot jet helps too.

Terence, the triple clamp is rubber mounted.
