unique sub frame!
what does that mean, if you slack and she goes end for end YES things do break and they brake at both ends.
12yrs and ive bent it once and snapped it once also.
it was very easy to repaire and its still the original one...........

Pushed the frame ahead, what do you mean by that.
Ive often woundered why no one ever utilised the factory mounts when cut off its a tight fit for the bolt, i made mine fit but went for the beefier Shan style mounts up front.
like the mill work on the frame...looks good

I took a leson from Bob, stuck a screw style bottle jack in it and heated the frame while shoving it ahead 20mm, same as I did on my gen 3, did 2 gen1s like this while I had the torch lit.
sorry dude no pictures, it kinda goes down like that drawing i did of Bob "forming" his tank with the chef + beaker on fire. My bro gets called "beak" for that reason Mom'd send him out to burn the garbage and then he'd have no mits and she always wondered where they went
sooty black accetalene flame, even heat , turning the jack 1/4 turn at a time until the frame just relaxes into place, and cooling it down slow with the jack stil in it.
This is the starting point for my gen 1 conversion, Its a 99' cr 125.
This pic, still has it with the 125 main frame. I have the 250 main and picked up my front mounts today. Does anyone see an issue with me running the 125 radiator ?

PREFERRED: I think you could use more training.
Just a quick set to see just how far off it all is.
Since then, have cut the mounts, removed the x for now, dimpled the right rail for lower clutch cover bolt clearance and mocked up front mounts.

IIRC the 125 and 250 rad are the same, my stock 250 rad has zero cooling issues and the bike has never once overheated even when being tortured in the dunes.

I'd love to here from the motard crowd on this. Perhaps the Gen 1s would make the best supermotos? Tuning out the dreaded wheel chatter might be easier with such a rigid frame.
I've got a 97, a spare 85 motor, and a wheel set so this is pretty temping!

whats left to think about?? the fork angle of the gen-1 chassis makes it a very good high speed/soft terrain bike and I believe that aspect of it would make it a very stable motard
