It is a TMXx, from a late model snowmobile or a mx bike. Those D-slides come in a variety of bore sizes and slide cutaways.

Thanks for that :)
It came with my motor, is it worth playing with or selling it to put the money towards something else ?

Guys are out there that taper bore them and rework them...

IMHO, you are better off selling it and picking up a Keihin PWK 39 or 41...similar idea in the design, much easier to get parts for and tune.

I will tell you from experience that, yes, you could probably make the bike a little faster with a larger carb, and the mikunis with powerjet can make some serious power, but it will be a tuning NIGHTMARE! I'm been there, ask guys on here how much time I spent tuning my gen-1 with a mikuni tmpro41. I love the carb, but no one else runs it, so there wasn't a safe baseline tune. You could get a PWK, run a 45 pilot, DGN needle and 172 main and it will run. period. the mikuni is a shot in the dark. for example, after lots and lots of tuning I determined that my gen'1 safe tune was a 50 pilot, r-6 needle jet, fm46 needle, 3rd clip, 370 main 100 power. it took me a loong ass time to get to those numbers.

This is also something I was considering wether to use the Mikuni that comes standard on the 07 CR250 or just use the carb that comes standard on the 01 CR500.

So what do you guys say? use the standard 500 carb right?

I should of bought a 04 CRF450 so I could throw the whole engine at her.
As that wouldn't be a waste of a good engine, would it?
Also slap her round the ears with the exhaust pipe.

You should tie her hair to the motor to pin her down, slam-it in her sewer for a few minutes, pop-it out and chili dog her ass, then she will LOVE you forever and let you hit it 3 times a day like mine does...

I don't know a hell of alot about carbs so i checked out Dannys previous posts on the mikuni. i want to sort the carb out pretty early on for this build so i started asking a few Q's to different so called guru's and from what i can tell it really comes down to personal preference for either brand. One thing that was clear though was the Mikuni has more finer tuning options ( hassles :? )
Just got my Boysen RAD valve as well and i am still thinking of a 38mm TM pro but 2 minutes later i'm thinking of the Keihin.......

I'm still lost for words.

Do like they said use the Keihin carb, decision made for you now you can think about something else.

Then again if you have someone who can tune it for you, use the bloody Mikuni if you really want that carb.

Yeah yeah I know I'm a guttless flip flop.

seriously, as much as I loved that mikuni, if I built another bike just like it, it would have a 41mm PWK with the mikuni powerjet mounted on the rear. just get a pwk and call it a day. Theres a brand new one for sale on here somewhere

Dood, seriously, the nature of a 2-stroke makes any more adjustability than a Kiehin has, just a plain waste of time...unless you plan to tune it on a dyno with a but sniffer attached, everytime...

OK now he has accepted the Keihin carb, does he need to buy a PWK or is he ok to use the standard PJ carb that came with his engine?

Wether it be bored out or left standard?
