Rowher Flat OHV 11/28/09

Post by BigSteve »

Hey guys! I don't know how many of you know, but Rowher Flat (Texas Canyon) is finally open again after a series of closures due to flood and fire damage. My buddy, Chad, and I headed up there on Saturday to check it out...

Image

Saw this guy hanging out in a tree just before the first staging area. Mighta still been asleep, seeing as it was just before 7AM.

Image

Hit staging area two, and unloaded the bikes. I was on my '93, Chad on his '08 YZ450F. Clear and crisp, but a bit cold...

Image

We hit Rowher and Knob Loops to warm up, and then decided to attack Rowher Trail next. At the top of the mountain, at the intersection of Rowher Trail and Pelona, we stopped to take a break.

I have a real nice panorama that I shot, up on top of the ridge, that shows the snow-capped San Gabriel's from about Valyermo all the way to the 5. I'll try and get it up in the next day or so.

There is a couple of big open areas and a junior practice track. What kind of playing do you want to do?

It appears when they redid most of the open areas, they got rid of it. It was small (65cc-85cc) and not well maintained. I guess if you want to ride more poorly maintained practice tracks, you'll have to go to Hungry Valley now.
