Aluminum sprockets?

i can get one, marked down from 60 bucks to 16, but aluminum seems like a piss poor choice for a sprocket.

I';ve run then already worn for years. for $16, I'd run it until it looks like a saw blade!

I only will use steel ones.

If the sprokets go bad makes you'r chain bad also put new sprokets on with a bad chain you new shiney sprocket are not going to last very long go both way new chain bad sprockets.

Change them in sets.

Steel sprokets are cheep and last much longer than Aluminum ever will.

I have run 2 sets of aluminum sprokets on my 250 and they dont wear out as quickly as some may assume. The white bros sprockets last as long as a steel sprocket but will cost you. also for a few bucks more you can get a nice steel sprocket.

I bought two of those. Figured there 7075T6 so they should as long as any other. Not so.

So now I wished I sent the $80 for the one thats Alum. with the steel ring.

i seen one of the fancy "tri-metal" whatever ones bent over so far the tire couldnt turn in the swingarm. Chad hit a rock and cleaned the fancy billet chain guard off the swingarm, it followed the chain arround and something had to give. That much stress on things i'd be nervous of the case beeing cracked + output shaft, but he says it seems to be ok

$16 aint a bad price for a aluminum sprocket but if you ever have to pay full price then aluminum aint worth a crap. steel is ok but why lug around all the extra weight. ironman is the only way to go. damn near as light as the aluminum and stronger than regular steel. cant believe you guys are still messing around with inferior metals

If you want to fork out the money for Aluminum or a set of Ironman sprokets it all up to you but for the money a set of steel sprockets and a DID X-Ring chain work great for me.

I had the Bing Bling sprockets Aluminum steel combo sprockets and a so called RK O-ring chain they claim is better on my KTM they cost more than the standered steel and lasted about the same as a Cheeper standered steel sprocket so why pay the high bucks when you can have the same for $20.00.

I looked at sidwinders high bucks Chain and sprocket combo and you have to use there chain combo and follow there rules to the T so you don't Void there so called lifetime warrenty I have read they try just about anything saying you did not adj you'r chain correctly to it just you'r fault so they will not have to replaced there so called life time warrented chain and sprocket combo, and for what they want for there product I can buy 2 or 3 sets of new DID X-Ring chain and sprocket combo so whats a better deal.

your bike must be a lethargic boat anchor with them steel sprockets

. i put my rear ironman on alittle before october '07. i dont ride 1000 hours a season but the rate im going ill get 5 more years from it. i would take a pic of its current condition but you'd probly say it was trick photography

I know Ironman Sprockerts last along time and there good sprockets just saying for the money they cost you can buy new sprockets and chain combo for half the price.

You saying you can get 5 years out of a set but how long is you'r chain going to last I could buy every 2.5 years new chain and Steel sprokect combo and still come out a head.

Ironman front and rear sprockets lets say $150.00 for 5 years 2 chains $250.00 thats $400.00 in 5 years.

Steel 2 sets in 5 years $60.00 and 2 Chains $250.00 total $310.00.

I guess you don't mind spending the extra cash go for it but unless you racing for a living a couple extra pounds will matter but for us everyday workers and riding for the love of it on the weekends when we get aways little extra weight not going to hurt us, I don't know about you my racing days are long gone rasing my family is number 1 riding just for fun.

I currently run on my gen-3 el cheapo JT brand steel sprockets w/ a new $70 DID x-ring chain. with the low cost I got on sprockets from MFDB, I'm around $100 into my whole chain and sprocket combo. yeah that JT sprocket is heavy, but I've also got more power than I need since this is a trail bike.
That $100 for a strong combo that will last me years.

Those JT's are boat anchors. As much as I jump those JT's make the rear come down,...I mean like Right Now when you blip the throttle in the air. Alum,..... is more like a motocrosser should be.

Iron man sprockets are GREAT sprockets, and worth the price if you ride constantly. Im not a motocross racer so I dont mind the boat anchor steel sprockets, I used this one on my 500 http://www.rockymountainatv.com/product ... ilyId=2192# vehicleSelect and its holding up great and I dont even notice the extra weight on my rear wheel (when its off the bike). I have a renthal aluminum sprocket on my bike now only because I got it for $20, it has about a year of hard everyweekend riding on it and its just starting to show wear.

My CR currently had a steel sprocket on it, and every tooth of offset from each other. looks all fucked up, but the whole sprocket is that way, and its symmetrical. anyone know what i mean?
