Honda would not go to the trouble or expense to use a double headstay if they thought it was unnecessary.
It is a good  regardless.

Like my Dad use to say when I was building my first car.

If the factory made it that way it should stay. If you want to redesign it and make it better that's fine, but if you want to remove it the part that it connects to will be removed by vibration or weight.

A quote from the early 80's, One he actually used on me that stuck.

"Ford didn't spend a million to design an ash tray that slides in and out with a lighter so you could pile you God damn change in it!"

Smokers view VS non smokers view.

Uhem....BULLSHIT! Honda makes concessions for cost just like every other mass producer. If you want to see what stuff looks like when there is no price point check anything Bimota builds. I will say that a single thin, hand bent headstay is NOT the correct approach, but a billet piece made from 6061 or 7075 is an excellent design if done correctly. Numbers don't lie.

You are correct but billet will always be stronger than a hand bent piece of 5052 and that is what I am assuming what he was showing us.

" NO" it was not a "hand bent" piece of 5052- it was a 1/4 plate of 6061 T6* and it was put in a mandrel press with some custom dies that we had made for a conversion for a trx250-cr500.. not hand bent... and now there are two mounts instead of one... im not cuttin any corners on this one.. that's why it's on this site, i wanted some guidance on doing it right :flip:

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE at bannedcr500 for helping me out, i really couldn't have done it with out everyone's builds published so i could gather idea's Thanks to everyone!!! i will have more photo's up of it soon but this shot was taken after i flew around on it for about 20 minutes!
