hey can someone help me out here,i need to find out if the 91 bike is actually is a 91 before i start to order parts for it,ive tried using the chassis and engine numbers to confirm but the chassis is coming back as not valid at a local honda dealers,got me stumped

oh yeah,heres the numbers

frame # pe025000496
engine# 5001677

the chassis number may not be 100% as i had to scrape the paint off that was covering it in a rush

As far as I can tell that looks like a 91 CR500 frame number.

I have an 88 CR500 frame and the number looks like that.

91 PE02-5000496
88 PE02-5700......
The first digit after the 5 is the year the frame was made, 0 meaning 1990.
The 88 is 7 as in the frame was made in 1987.

The same goes for the engine.
A 1990 engine looks like this 5901677
A 1991 engine looks like this 5001677
A 1992 engine looks like this 5101677

There are other ways Honda did their frame numbers and I am not sure why.
Maybe for diff countries but I have seen both types in Australia.

Hello Taffy, let me know what your doing with the frame as I might need one for my steelie!

My AF is still sat on the floor, it just no good this work lark, gets in the way of building and riding!!!
