CR500 on craigs list

I found a really clean, bone-stock looking, 2000 CR500 on craigs list. He's asking $2100.
It's red/white/white frame, stock chamber and silencer.
Would $1500 be a good deal?

There's an 01 for a cheaper price, but looks like it's been moto'ed pretty hard.
It looks like the 2K bike was basically a garage trophy.

I'm not shopping for another machine, I just can't pass up a good deal.

2k is a great deal for an 01 with little to no abuse and in stock trim, I say go for it

01' ride by a scared owner could be a good deal,if the bike was ride by a pro

or an "i don't care about everything" rider,deal could be a crap and change your point of good deals forever

He packed up and relocated, so the bike is at a holding/selling/shipping company in Dallas.

Hi again,
the bike is being stored in Dallas at TNT warehouse, the title and all paperwork is along with the bike in their possession. they usually deliver the vehicles with a 14-day return policy right after the payment is confirmed, for inspection and to pick it up instead of have it delivered you have to schedule an appointment, and it could take up to 25 days until you have it set which is a timeframe that I'm not comfortable with.
I'm paying some fees each passing day and I would rather take advantage of their sale policy, so if you want to purchase it let me explain you how they work and how we can proceed:
to start the official transaction I need your full name and delivery address, I forward it to TNT Vehicle Storage and they will notify you with all the instructions (payment, shipping, return policy etc.).
one of their agents will be assigned to receive and handle payment. you would have to transfer the funds to their agent as per their email directions and when the payment is complete, you have to send them the transfers information, they verify it, deposit the purchase amount in their trust account then start the shipping process and you should be getting the bike in about 48 hours after the payment was confirmed. you will have a 14-day return policy starting with the day you receive the bike, so you will have the chance to test and inspect it before funds are released. if you decide to keep it, they have the Power of Attorney so they will transfer the title into your name and release me the funds, if not they will be responsible for the return shipping and you will have a complete refund within 3 days.
anyway, they will explain you detailed the entire process.
if you want to purchase it, I will be waiting your email so we can get started.

I believe that everything is a scam, except when dealing 1-on-1 with someone.

Dallas is 4 hours from here.
I did find 2 others in the local classifieds, but they have been rode hard and look abused.
I'd rather pay $500/600 extra and get something way nicer.

OMG that is the biggest scam in the world! Any ad that is written like that is scam----color:red
engine size:500 cc
etc. This guy probably speaks very poor english. He is a few levels of accountability away from the actual bike itself, and will leave you chasing your tail for recourse once funds are delivered.

wheelie gene that 01 cr500 is a mild franken bike and I dont belive its an 01 it looks like a 96 or 97 with 01 plastics slapped on it, keep looking though, there have been a few true original 96-01's latley for sale in the bay area for a good price

It looked fishy to me as well. I intended to research plastics and pipes but never did. I forget which year Honda went to the angled silencer.

I've given up on that idea. This one was a scam, the other 3 I loked at wete tore up and over priced, the one that was hopeful had no title.
Yeah, and they claim to have 15 minutes/9 hours on a fresh rebuild, and the bike has leaking forks and fucked-up shit everywhere.....no thanks.

Looks like I might be getting a 1st gen frame (from a member here) to stick all my spare parts onto.

A buyable/rideable steelie would be nice for the collection, but I need to finish what I have.

I'm amazed at the people who would rather screw someone out of $$$$$ than to be legit.
I put an ad on Craig's and got a shit-load of scam replies.

That's a cool gesture.....truly honerable, but I need to make sure the frame is a go before I start stockpiling parts.

I listed my 125 cradle tubes w/mounts over there a long time ago. I wasn't about to put them in the scrap barrel, but seems nobody else needed them either. At least I put in an effort.

I'd like to build another conversion......something that I won't be afraid to beat up or pound on. Maybe something that looks like shit and goes like hell, which won't be hard to do.

I have a sumo rim set, a core engine, SA and USDs, so I'll need to scrounge up a sub, trees and small parts.
Hmmmmmmm..... Now look what you've done, I'm getting excited just thinking about it.

I'll keep a watch on the freebee page. It's not charity, I'm just not one to free-load.

That ad is your 'typical' Craigslist scam. I just sold a Suzuki 80 on CL. You wouldnt believe the bullshit some a$$holes try and pull.
