If you want to hack a cradle up, then may I suggest doing it to a Gen3 250. It will be less work than a Gen1 125 and in the long run you will have a more modern machine and better aftermarket parts availability.
The price is right, has applied triples, and I have a 89. So modern it will be for me. Aftermarket parts would consist of??? Still searching for conversion info. Is it going to be just a cradle? Also ,cant find a 250 around my parts for a deal like this. Complete roller. Minus radiators. Probably wont get the FATTY treatment.

The 125 frame is alot smaller in the cradle then the 250 therefore it was easier to swap all the stuff to a 250 frame and do only the front mounts instead of having a new cradle fabbed, like these guys are saying your better off using a later gen as a platform if your gonna use a 125 cause it looks like alot of work to convert a 125 no matter what gen you use due to the smaller cradle
or maybe honda enginears came up with a beater chasie my mate got a 01 250 and thats a nice bike to ride iv nether bean on a newer cr but they nock spots of the gen 1
